| Mr Khan said: Because the favor of the United States is the only thing keeping Israel from getting blasted in the ass by the UN and the ICC over what they're doing in Palestine. Because if it weren't for America's friendship, Palestine would be a sovereign state by now? They need us one hell of a lot more than we need them, and frankly we should play that for all it's worth to force them to move towards a two-state solution. |
I think one of those might be true... but not the other.
ICC is one thing, the UN actually doing something within a country that's more then cerimonial... unlikely.
Besides, if the Israelis even saw a hint of force being pushed towards a Palestine state they'd probably just round up everyone and mass expel from anywhere they want, if not the whole country, in a horiffic way if needed. No way the UN actually does anything about that.
Sanctions sound nice, until you realize just how important Israeli buisnesses are to the western world.
Cutting off IBM? Not going to happen.
Without US support, the UN would do pretty much what it does now, and in every other situation of intrest.
Sit by impotently while making pointless statements.
