Most athiests including myself come from religious backgrounds so its natural to use religious terminology since its ingrained from such an early age just like i say bless you when someone sneezes its more force of habit than anything conscious.

The meaning of things change. I know muslim people who celebrate Christmas coz it's sort of a national holiday now. I celebrate it too (well, I gather with my family) and I certainly ain't a Christian. No shame in that. Yeah, we also say "Oh, my God" in English, etc.

I actually find myself saying "god damn it" and "jesus!" when things are going crappy. I've recently tried to curb that tendency and use the South Park future atheists of replacing God with Science in all of these instances. Kinda fun but doesn't quite roll off the tongue like the classics.

I agree, Atheists can be annoying as fuck, and no...there wouldn't be world peace without religion (the stupidest thing Atheists say)...but wasn't really worth a thread.
