Not surprise here. The fact that in Japan was always 2014 pulled me to believe that the rumor of the delay will be real. Also, they have games for the holiday, especially the Wii_something line-up, one each month.

This game will fill the gap between holidays and Mario Kart 8.

Nintendo's desire to milk every last dollar from their audience strikes again! The only reason this game got delayed is because they didn't want it and Mario 3D World to cannibalize each other during the holiday season. It's the same reason practically every major Nintendo IP ever receives a delay.

Was a little disappointed at first... Now that I have a chance to think about it, it is a smarter move. It is better to have a consistent release of games than go from nothing to a fuck load :P.

My bank account will save a little money now.

Probably for the best, Nintendo releasing too many platform games in the same period really only hurts themselves. This also pads out the schedule since I doubt we will see the likes of Smash Bros for Wii U until late summer at earliest.

I highly doubt that, especially considering Miyamoto recently said in an interview that Retro's capable of handling more than 1 project at once, and that they're likely candidates to develop a new Metroid game. Also, weren't they hiring new talent left and right all the time sometime last year or so, from the likes of Naughty Dog and Vigil? Like you said, there's no way DKC would take quite so much effort/people/time to come together. I'm quite convinced they're actually busy working on a new game, possibly 2. DKC's likely finished already, they're just holding it back for a strategic release, imo.
