You would have had to give up a lot more than just Crawford to get Miller.  The Sabers are in rebuilding mode and wanted prospects and picks.

As for Stewart, I think it is addition by subtraction for the Blues.  He lead the team in penalty minutes by far.

well, unlucky for the Sabres the Blackhawks gave up the AHL allstar MVP for absolutely nothing. Could have easily bundled Pirri in that trade and a draft pick or two

Unlucky for the Sabres? The Sabres got everything they wanted out of the miller deal, why would they trade him to Chicago for spare parts with a better deal on the table somewhere else?

Now you have moved from Crawford for Miller, to Crawford, Pirri and a couple pick (2 1st rounders if you want to match St. Louis), now what do you add to match Stewart? Keep in mind that Stewart has been linked to Ottawa, and Murray was possibly very high on getting Stewart to move him on to Ottawa for one of the young kids there that he helped scout and draft and develop.

The Miller to St. Louis deal makes perfect sense for everyone. Miller to Chicago only makes sense to you because you wanted it to happen.

Yeah, real shocker a fan of any team would want Miller on their team as opposed to any other team, especially a division rivalry.

blues are a better team now

Goaltending wise, on paper, yeah. Steve Ott is a joke though, adds no serious threat to the team. Blues gave up Stewart who is a much better player than Ott.

Very poor analysis. Blues made a huge upgarde in net and added a balls out player with some scoring touch in Ott. He will be a perfect player for them in the play offs. Giving up Stewart for the Blues does not hurt, the real price the Blues paid are Carrier and the two picks. In other words selling off parts of the future to improve now. Has worked out ok so far. Playoffs will tell the real story.

Not really. Miller is better on paper, yes, but when was the last time he proved himself in the play-offs? Steve Ott hardly has a scoring year, he has maybe 10 goals this year and that's with playing roughly top line minutes.

Blackhawks went from contending from top spot to 5th and dropping.

The blues are pretty scary now I think. The only team that has continually beaten the Avalanche all year. Not the Ducks, not the Blackhawks. None of the teams I would expect to do it. The Blues will probably win the Presidents trophy which means an easy first round for them. They might go really far.

On another note, the Central division really has the best teams.

Watch out for the Predators with rinne back and our young defensive core getting more and more time together this team could be dangerous if we sneak into the 8th seed. Stats can't tell this story because rinne has been out all season and when you don't have confidence in your defensive zone then you can't play as aggressive as you normally would. Just please start playing forsberg!!!! dumbass's in nashville. I mean c'mon we gave up martin erat for him and he isn't even getting any ice time just plain dumb.

Good news is they are one win away from being back in third and 8 points ahead of LA who are in 6th

Same old story every game is looked at as a must win. There was a night a couple nights ago where almost every domiunate Western club won. San Jose has been sitting there almost all year a point , or two ahead of the Avalanche. The Avalanche face the Ducks next which is huge. The end of their toughest stretch of teams the whole year. Only lost to tthe Blues so far. I expect a close down stretch in the central to remain too close for liiking.

The East just seems to be worse then ever against the West so they are easy to ignore.

Come playoff time they will prove they are the best team in the league, as long as Crawford is sharp (see what I did there?) they will go deep into the playoffs at least.
