quoting is fixed!

Updating now....so if I understand correctly, I have to use a classic controller for games like Brawl and Xenoblade? That sucks. If I could play them on the screen normally it would make me so happy.

Excellent. That's what I like to hear.

Everyone here is aware that up till a few minutes ago you couldn't play Wii games off-tv at all and that such a function was never promised, right? A compromise is better than nothing.

I think it would be a pain for nintendo to make all Wii games compatible with the Wii U controller. From what ive been playing of pikmin3 off tv with Wii motes, it will control just fine.

@KylieDog The sensors are built into the gamepad as far as i remember.

WiiU pad has a sensor bar built into it?   They must have planned this long ago and never got round to implementing it.

...so, does this mean can play Wii Virtual console on WiiU pad now?

yes

For all the people complaining about the "uselessness" of offscreen gamepad play for Wii games, the people who have horrible tv's or no tv at all would probably like you all to stop talking and let them have their day. Not everyone has a new television. Some people still are rocking the 1994 tv in their grandma's house and a screen on the gamepad would totally look better for all those wii games they've bought over the past like 7 years or so.

So how does the off-TV for Wii games work? You need get the Wii sensor bar and stand it above the WiiUpad screen somehow (sellotape?), prop the screen up somehow and play with wiimote?

That doesn't sound awkward at all.

the sensor bar is the large strip where the camera is installed on the gamepad. If u have a videocamera and focus to it while on action you can see blue lights on in it. Do u think Nintendo is stupid? please they are slow implementing new tech in the hardware operating system but hardware utility they are best with what they have.

For me its impressive how fast they came with the OS, in just one year they are almost beyond what the PS3 and Xbox360 did on 7 years. Nintendo is not the best positioned company as to invest that much on those things that are not games.

as for the unification of accounts, i will be happy if they bring it before they release their next console. it is useless for me that option as for now.

Surprised you did this thread. But it seems like a good update, though not that great solutions to problems. Ah well.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
