Forums - Sony - Year of Playstation Plus discounted to $40, possibly down to $35

AS someone said its really a good deal if you do not buy game day one. For the 50.00 you get to play a good bit of games without buying them separately. However someone mentioned Saints Row 3, I got that for less than 4.00 off Steam and its always mine and always will be able to play it no matter how many times I upgrade my PC.
Idk in some ways I can see the benefits of PS+ but in other ways it just seems like a lot of money wasted and nothing you own. If you get a game on PS+ is it yours to keep from then on or just til the months promotion is out? If so I think I prefer buying them on sale off of Steam for around the same price as what PS+ would cost but actually owning the game

I just renewed my subscription last month!!! Grrr

You can still pick them up and have it renewed for longer, so it's not all that bad.

I don't think the months roll over.

They carry over.

"Your new subscription term will be added to the existing entitlement...."  If you have 10 days left and you buy a new year long subscription, it will be valid for 375 days rather than 365.

Eh, in that case I'll probably just wait until they offer a better deal, like 3 months free with a year sub. I bet they'll bring that back.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Of course, I would also rather buy SR3 on Steam for 4$ since I would rather own the game (although I'm not sure if you do actually own games on Steam from a legal standpoint) rather than "rent" it, problem is I don't have a PC to run it :-/

I have bought the PS3 not to have that problem, so I would need to find SR3 on PSN/XBLA for that price, but I won't. Got to admit though, that some discounts and promotions, sales are really good sometimes, and you can grab a good game for under 10$. Still point is, it would still cost me way more to buy those games even on huge discounts, rather than having them with PS+ at least for the time being (I hope Sony incorporates Steam like sales, but holding my breath though) so PS+ has has quite amazing value*

*if you of course don't buy the majority of big games day one. But why would you subscribe to PS+ then? I have no idea, seems stupid to me.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Full game trials is a joke...

How so?

Don't try unless you are most likely going to buy it. Download a big game (let's say 10 GB) and then play it for an hour just to finish of the free trial period and then deleting it. Too much hasle for a glorified demo. Ofcourse if you like it and then just want to continue playing. You just have to pay the money and continue.

Better to check a review or some quick look video online to make up your mind. Even better to just ask me. I'll tell what to buy.

Your complaint defeats itself anyway, you complain you already own all the good titles PS+ offers as you buy lots of games, yet complain that PS+ isn't offering good titles.  So is it offering good titles or not?

I've already said it gets some good games, and I was agreeing that the very few good retail games we happen to get I already own, but that was just me agreeing.  I'm aware that there are games that I'm going to own that's why I only agreed on it here but never outright complain about it whenever I bash the service.

And when I said that Europe pays more, it pays more relative to everything else gaming related.  You guys don't pay $60 per PS3 game, you pay more.  You don't pay $40 per Vita game, you pay more.  Your cost for PS+ to PS3 games compared to our cost of PS+ to PS3 games are relative, so when I say you're paying the same amount, that's what I mean, and that's how developers and publishers see it or they wouldn't keep charging high prices.  It's not like publishers, including Sony says, hey, since Europe pays this much more for each video game, we should add more content exclusively for Europe.  They don't do it for everything else, they shouldn't do it for PS+.

Also.  Here's a list of retail games  that Europe has received that we haven't received.  Red Dead Redemption, Batman Arkham City, Dead or Alive 5, Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, Far Cry 3, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Touch My Katamari, Street Fighter x Tekken, Assassin's Creed 3, Jak and Daxter Trilogy, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Lego Lord of the Rings, New Little King's Story, Mortal Kombat, Unit 13, and I'm sure there are more somewhere in there.

The retail games the US has got in comparison that Europe hasn't received.  Disgaea 3, Super Street Fighter 4, King of Fighters 13, and Blaz Blue Continuum Shift Extend.  You'd think there would be more, but the way Sony gets around it is releasing PSP games in place of PS3 and PSP games.  When Europe got Dead or Alive 5 for PS3, Sony also gave us a fighting game the same month.  Tekken 6 for PSP.  There are other months where they gave us the PS3 version of Machinarium or Jet Set Radio, and then later on gave us the Vita version instead of giving us both games.  Basically giving us the same digital game twice in a row.  We've also received more digital games.  Trash games, basically.

Because you pay more than we do "on average," that whole relative thing I talked about up above, doesn't mean we should get jack shit compared to you.  That's just the cost of gaming in that area of the world.  We shouldn't be fucked over because the cost of gaming is higher.  There are regions that pay more for PS+ and get the US' PS+ offerings.  They're getting fucked over more than us that are actually in the US.  What kind of spin are you going to put on it for those people?  They pay more and they're getting less.

Someone made the comment about Microsoft how the fanbase in the US and Europe are getting the same games for free.  That's true.  Atleast Microsoft doesn't cater to one region.  That's what Sony should do.  Either give the US the quality of Europe's offerings or give Europe the quality of US offerings.  Same exact games and there'd be no bitching from either side, but that way it'd be fair, and that's always my main point of all these constant complaints .  It's that Sony doesn't give a shit about the regions that are considered US compared to the other regions when it comes to PS+ content.
