I think I'll stick to my Dual Shock 3. This looks awful.

Talk about jumping the gun.......This could be brilliant, I doubt valve released this without extensive research and thought.  Wait until more is revealed , and when people actually get it in their hands.

I've never had a good experience with track pads so I'm not that thrilled about it. The Steam Machines and Steam OS look very interesting but I doubt I'll be buying the controller since I have plenty of perfectly good controllers at home.

Did anyone read the link, where they said the controller is easily hack able? This is just the start, wait for the madmen to get a hold of this thing. It's going to be crazy.

Ok guys, you had your fun, now where is the real controller?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

somehow i doubt that dual trackpads work as good or better than dual analog sticks but i might give it a try to see for myself.

Brilliant engineering but ugly as all fuck, will buy.

It lacks some of the feedback from the sticks, but they might be able to compensate somewhat with haptic feedback. The other significant difference is distance, since you have to move your fingers farther from their starting point on a touchpad than you do a stick.

Not feeling it.

i also see some problems in how your thumb feels due to the friction after long input intensive gaming sessions. maybe one stick and one touchpad would have been a better choice but then it also would not have been so left-hander friendly. let's see...

Possibly, though that has more to do with the texture of the pad than anything else. It'll probably be something one needs to try out to get a real feeling for.

looks weird but i cant wait to try it, alot of people thinking a console can only have one controller, this could be great for mousy based games and still use a normal controller for more console type games.
