I would buy this after trying it out. I would not buy it simply based on how great DC was because that was a long time ago...Towards the end of high school I worked in only retail job I have ever had at a Best Buy in the video game dept. for maybe a year and I remember they had DC playable on display and I want to say it had the first NBA 2K game which was a GREAT game. LOL that was ages ago, maybe 1999 or 2000. It was a terribly boring job, but the discount you got was INSANE. At that time they based it on popularity among the public of an item, so if you wanted something that wasn't selling all that well the discount was HUGE. I remember getting car and home audio equipment for ~80% off.

I do miss SEGA's first party games from the Saturn and Dreamcast eras. I have such fond memories of playing Shining the Holy Ark, Shining Force 3, NiGHTS into Dreams, Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter 2, Sonic Adventure, Jet Set Radio, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star Online, etc.
The loss of SEGA as a hardware maker WAS a loss for the entire industry, make no mistake, because besides making hardware, they had a lot of creative studios that forwarded gaming and Microsoft has paled as a substitute in that regard.
I like how even today, Sega apparently still has a massive phobia of a Select button, lol.

I think the biggest problem there is how many of those games are available on other platforms by now. Of course, the DC generally still has the better versions but we're not exactly talking a Bayonetta 360/PS3 difference.
On the contrary, the DC is one of the easiest platforms to run ISOs on for those games with zero modding necessary.
Don't get me wrong, I do think it's worth it just for Shenmue 1 and 2. But I understand why it was never high on anyone's priority list.

By far the worst controller is the dreamcast one.
Me and my friends still don't understand how that thing has gone through all the test phases.
It doesn't fit in the palm of your hands.
To achieve that you have to bring your wrists closer together, which is an uncomfortable position. You can see this if you look at a picture of the controller. The 'hand-grips' go straight downwards on the controller instead of sideways and downwards.
Plus the d-pad sticks out too high out of the controller, this makes the edges of the d-pad hurt your thumb after a while. The quickness this discomfort starts is mainly dependant on the genre of the game. Fighters are better played with the arcade stick. The official sega arcade stick is really good.
But of course we still play on it.
Mainly Virtua Tennis 2 (Tennis 2K2 ntsc name), which is a fantastic game, a great 4-player game.
