Forums - Gaming - Watch Dogs is 30FPS on PS4 & Xbox One

Watch Dogs will run at 30FPS on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, creative director Jonathan Morin has told VideoGamer.com.

"Right now the frame rate we're focussing on [is] a steady 30[FPS]," said Morin speaking to us at Eurogamer Expo this afternoon. "There's always a balance, especially for open world, between the simulation and the rest.

"I think for where we are, the most important thing is the steadiness and [ensuring] that it's always capped the same so when you play it it feels right."

Despite confirming the frame rate, though, Morin could not confirm the game's native resolution on next-gen platforms, claiming that he didn't know whether the game would run at 720p or 1080p.

Watch Dogs launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC & Xbox One on November 22. A PlayStation 4 version is due to follow on November 29.

Hmm weird, I thought it was confirmed to run 60fps at least on the PS4. Shame. Seems that next-gens are really underpowered from the start. Probably around a teraflop in performance too little from what 3rd parties would be really happy about. But price point was more important and I can't blame Sony or even MS, although they could have allocated the resources elsewhere of course and take a bigger hit.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Who cares as long as the game is good. GTA5 might have beat them to my fix though.

Sony can't take a bigger hit. Also I still down't know why everybody is so dissapointed, games locked on 30 fps are still totally playable. Enjoy your damn games.

What were people really expecting? That games are just gonna come out on a 3rd party engine on release time to magically run everything at super speeds? If people really want that power so much, go PC, otherwise, not a big deal at all.

The hit and allocation part was meant towards MS. And sure I will enjoy them, I'm actually one of those who doesn't care much, unless the 30fps is rock solid, plus better graphics is always very welcomed.

Thing is, it really is a shame that a cross gen title with slightly better graphics and physics can't run easily in 1080p60. I'm sure Ubi could achieve it, but they probably don't have time nor want to spend more money to optimise it more, which means it's not easily achieveable.

60fps isn't important at all in a game like Watch Dogs. 30fps might even be better than 60fps in this case. People are way too focussed on 60fps while not even realizing what it exactly means.

Care to explain and elaborate on your opinion?

if they are being so conservative about the performance on ps4, I wonder if the wii u version will be anything good...

Seems some people fail to realize certain truths about game developing - even if PS4/XOne were 3TFLOPS machines, lot (if not most) of genres would still be 30fps - devs will always try to push more things on screen, if stable 30fps is enough for fluid gameplay.
