So... no standard specs, lots of different machines / different power? Some will be in direct competition with PS4/ONE then?

Yeah... AMD and nVidia already supporting the ideia... so difference GPUs inside the machines too.

It is more like any manufacture can build a SteamMachine... the requeriment is they use the SteamOS.

It is like... hummm... the PC is today

Not sure how it's going to be a game changer considering the fact that...you can....you know, build a PC...and hook it up to a TV.

i still need to see some legit news about this first.
will it be this super awesome console people are hyping it out to be, or will it be just another HD-triplet?

yeah.

if it does turn out to be an HD triplet, i'd have to decide on either it or a PS4.

i love Sony's first party games but i love Valve's games too T-T

Multiple machines with multiple prices and multiple levels of performance. I just don't see the point. This just sounds like any other pre-made gaming PC, but with the Steam OS.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

The PC has absolutely zero to fear from this.  Gaming manufacturers however....? they could definitely lose sales.

I meant... SteamMachine is nothing difference from what we have on PC today... if I'm not wrong you can install the SteamOS on any PC.

The only good I see coming from this is much better driver support for Linux thanks to SteamOS
Otherwise, I don't see how this is any better that your regular ol' gaming PC.

so whats the point?

Seems like they just want MS out of the picture for PC gaming.

All that's left for me to do to be elligible for the beta is to "Launch and play a game using a gamepad in Big Picture mode". Weird requirement but it will be done when I get home tonight.

Signature goes here!

Sounds like a good way to identify "gaming PC's" to the consumer market while lending profits to valve for the OS. They will probably be able to do more for gaming in their OS than in others. They essentially are creating a market sector in my opinion.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

The steam OS is designed to give as much performance to games as possible. Makes sense, despite different hardware.
