It's a very solid idea, and certainly bound to be better/more successful than the joke that is Ouya.

But people thinking the "Steambox" is going to take over the home console market are sadly way off base.

Systems like OUYA, which are Android based, and Steam Machines, are going to be battling it out for this marketspace.  And this marketspace definitely has a chance to run into the space of the ONE and PS4... and also the PC market for that matter.

As far as the OUYA goes, it does the job for me, for the most part.  Of course I am retro gaming here.

Fair enough. I am a retro/classic gamer at heart too. Though to be fair, after seeing Ouya and many of it's games at a friend's house, I was left terribly unimpressed. Fact of the matter is, it needs some of it's OWN games. Beause those Android games are fucking garbage, no suprise.

If it was a competition between the two, I think Steambox has already won, hands down. As for them eating into Wii U/Xbox/PS space, I don't know about that. Perhaps a bit, but I think most console gamers are going to stay console gamers. The biggest audience Steambox will appeal to, are PC gamers who want to cheat and play from their couch (even though they claim to prefer sitting in front of their PC lol).

Around the Network

This is cool and all, but you know what could be the real gamechanger? An nVidia Tegra 6 Tablet with SteamOS + the Steam controller. Oh yeah, baby! Can you imagine a tablet playing all the Steam library? And with a good controller instead of the touch control bs?

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
