Forums - Nintendo - Should Nintendo have made the Wii U WEAKER?

Yes Im talking about the Wii. Im also referring to attache rates

Many people to this day beileve the U is weaker than 360/PS3. Actually making it weaker would leave it in the same place that is today. Lesser ports of current gen games + Ninty exclusives. Now assuming Ninty researched into making the system as powerful(as people suggested by dropping the pad) or more powerful than PS4 the result would be people saying Nintendo doesnt have games and they would rather game on X1 or Ps4 cause of their exclusives. U would outshine both X1 and PS4 in all aspects of the graphical area of gaming but people would stick with PS4/X1 because they would then say its all about the software/exclusives/what their friends have for their system of choice.

It again comes back to software. The reason the U hasent set the gaming world ablaze is that it (and none of the upcoming systems) has not caught the mass publics eye. Release a Zelda, Kart and whatnot and it will be fine. Same for PS with GOW or GT and MS with GOW or Halo.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

So you're just going to ignore all the "AA" games that did really well on the system?

cant ignore what doesnt exist. No really what are these AA games that you are talking about? Are you talking about WIi? cause nothing of the sort has done well on WIi U not even close

there are 300 titles that sold at least 500k on wii, surely at a profit. games from every genre that appeal to all kinds of gamers, regardless of how much you try to ignore and erase this truth.

name em. the AA games i mean if there are so many of them

No, they should have listened to 3rd parties and not bothered with that gamepad. Developers aren't interested in it, gamers aren't interested in it, and it's keeping the WiiU's price too high.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Misconceptions everywhere man lol

Nope, if anything they should have made it more powerful.

i wouldnt mind if they did if that accelerated a bit the development times

I think Nintendo pretty much hit the sweet spot with cost/performance in the Wii U - a less powerful console would not be much cheaper, and a slightly more powerful console would be much more expensive.

But I also agree with some of the comments here that the gamepad added an unnecessary (and unwanted) cost. I think Ninty should have stuck with the Wiimote as their default interface - it worked well for the casuals, and hardcore gamers would happily buy a classic controller add-on (or used the one from their Wii).
