Forums - Nintendo - DKC Tropical Freeze lifetime sales predictions

I think this game will be like Mario U to a lesser extent, meaning it will continue selling throughout Wii U's lifetime. So I'd say 5-7m. They should bundle this game with Mario U imo.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Around the Network

Donkey Kong Country Returns 6.02 M

Donkey Kong Country 9.30 m

Donkey Kong 64 5.27 m

Donkey Kong is a massive system seller and ... will appeal to allot of youngsters and sell systems , wich is a good thing for Nintendo.

My prediction: 5. 00 m lifetime.

1.5 Million to 2 Million.

Feeling really pessimistic on it.

If it does better... i'd be happy for them.

Though I feel like the DK brand has been on a decline, Wii U userbase sales aren't too high at the moment and that it will end up being overshadowed by various Mario like things.

Considering it felt like it was a kick in the balls when it was announced i hope not much

For you maybe.  I was hyped as hell.  I love me some more Donkey Kong! Retro will continue to do amazing things with the series.

1doesnotsimply

I'll be bold and say 7m. It is releasing at the right time both for sales and the games theme, winter.

I went to best buy and all people could talk about was damn DK.

That shit sells.

Probably 1 million by the end of the year (I hope more) and 3, or 4 million lifetime depending on Wii U success.

That seems like a very lowball number, even the Gamecube titles were able to sell close to that and they were spinoffs that used unpopular bongo peripherals. A mainline traditional Donkey Kong on Gamecube would have probably sold 3-4m. Donkey Kong also seems to be a series that doesnt rely too heavily on install base, DKC, DKC2, DK64, DKC Returns all sold over 5 million and thats on consoles with install bases of 33-100m. DKC3 is the only one to sell less than 5m.

Just out of curiousity what makes u think Donkey Kong is declining? Wii U lifetime sales would have to be like 10m in order for Tropical Freeze to sel that low.

Donkey Kong Returns only did 3 Million on a giant Wii userbase with a lot of momentum.  They just went to long without "good" Donkey Kong games... for reasons I can't completely fathom.

The Wii U userbase is in the exact opposite situation.

It is a lowball number, but that's what happens when you think things lean towards a worst case scenario.
