Though I feel like the DK brand has been on a decline, Wii U userbase sales aren't too high at the moment and that it will end up being overshadowed by various Mario like things. |
That seems like a very lowball number, even the Gamecube titles were able to sell close to that and they were spinoffs that used unpopular bongo peripherals. A mainline traditional Donkey Kong on Gamecube would have probably sold 3-4m. Donkey Kong also seems to be a series that doesnt rely too heavily on install base, DKC, DKC2, DK64, DKC Returns all sold over 5 million and thats on consoles with install bases of 33-100m. DKC3 is the only one to sell less than 5m.
Just out of curiousity what makes u think Donkey Kong is declining? Wii U lifetime sales would have to be like 10m in order for Tropical Freeze to sel that low.
