This may be taking it too far (apologies if so).

Who would you believe based on their opinion

1. If a DR tells you that you have an incurable disease.

2. some guy in the street tells you that you look ok.

or

1. A scientist tells you that the lights in the sky is the light from planets

2. Some random person tells you each light is a fairy.

I guess what i am saying is that surely an opinion based on knowledge is better than an opinion based on nothing. In fact you are going so far to say Expert.

Thats not to say that experts cannot get it wrong (as there have been a number of cases where this has been the case), but there is more validity in an expert than some random guy.

Now of course you could say "Tech people" are from said company are knowledgeable experts. That is true, but the power of money does alot to the opinion of said experts. A DR gets paid, sure, but they don't have a career based on telling the truth, while companies live and die on products being sold. Unfortunately companies have a warped view of the world and the consumer.

Do people posting in forums have agenda's, hell yes. But sometimes common sense is lost just because people don't know (or want to know) the current evidence. Don't deny common sense in a discussion just because you think that people are only complaining about a product.
