Microsoft is increasing its number of Xbox Live servers to 300,000, up from only 500 at launch and 15,000 today.

let's shed some light on the 300,000-server cloud architecture. Part of the server setup will be used to compute scenes in games. Microsoft is targeting areas that aren't sensitive to latency, a common complaint around cloud-powered games. "There are some things in a video game world, though, that don't necessarily need to be updated every frame or don't change that much in reaction to what's going on."

Microsoft is clearly betting on the long-term viability of cloud gaming, something that could theoretically make up for its lower specifications in time

for every Xbox One] we're provisioning the CPU and storage equivalent of three Xbox Ones on the cloud. We're doing that flat out so that any game developer can assume that there's roughly three times the resources immediately available to their game, so they can build bigger, persistent levels that are more inclusive for players. They can do that out of the game.

First of all it has no games and the games it does have look like well ... terribly 720p! 2 theoretical performance setting! how dare they give 99% of the userbase a less optimal setting.

It has the cloud and clouds are just water in the sky!

kinect is just "meh"and noone is gonna use it so better forget about it.

Not a fan of the cloud.  I like to be able to play my games years down the road, like I just played my N64 and PS2 a couple weeks ago, but if a game depends on the cloud for its AI or graphics or whatever then after the game stops being supported the game is gonna be gimped or unplayable.  When I get a X1 Ill probably stay away from games that rely so heavily on the cloud.

Not sure what to say... other than the fact that you put this in the wrong forum, and that I'm getting an Xbox One before PS4, if I ever get that system. So they'll be getting at least one system sold here in Norway.

You are joking about these negatives, which means you actually believe this cloud bs. The cloud is a very powerful and useful tool for developers, but it's not doing what you're thinking it's doing.
