Forums - Gaming - ‘Dark Souls 2’ director changes stance on potential PS4 and Xbox One ports

Yui Tanimura has changed his stance regarding the potential PS4 and Xbox One ports of the upcoming multiplatform video game, “Dark Souls 2.” In an interview with Eurogamer on Sept. 19, the game disclosed that he and the rest of his colleagues at From Software has not “rule out” the action role-playing title appearing for the two next-generation systems down the road.

Yui Tanimura stated that the development team is currently deciding whether or not to develop “Dark Souls 2” for the PS4 and Xbox One. He went to mention that he is personally “really interested” to potentially work on next-generation hardware. You can check out some screens of the upcoming video game in the slideshow near the top of this article and his comments below (courtesy of Eurogamer):

"Only existing consoles and PC are confirmed. I think it has to be decided for next generation consoles like Xbox One and PS4. My personal opinion as creator is that I'm really interested in next generation and I'm willing to make games for PS4 and Xbox One."

Yui Tanimura previously stated the development team had no intention to port “Dark Souls 2” to the PS4 and Xbox One. It seems like his stance has changed recently based on the aforesaid comments.

The PS4 will be hitting store shelves on Nov. 15 while the Xbox One is slated to launch one week later on Nov. 22. “Dark Souls 2” has been officially confirmed to come out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 14, 2014. The PC version of the open-world action role-playing game will be release shortly after the console releases.

too excited to read... FUCK YEAH!!!!!!

well crap, that story doesn't some nearly as promising as the title.

...if they want this game to succeed they really do need to port it to next gen. this game is as "core" as they come and the core are also earlier adopters. by march of next year a huge chunk of this games audience will have moved on already.

Like I said before no need to make the rush into next generation.

That's good news, I hope that they do announce it though. I have never played either of the Souls games, but I hear that they're a spiritual successor to the King's Field series, and I really liked the 2nd one (1st one in NA/Europe).

Maybe I will hold out for a next gen copy then. Hopefully they announce it soon.

I hope so!

Theres few times I will pay $60 for a game. Most times I can wait till they are $20ish, but Dark Souls is a $60 purchase for me. If it comes to the one it seems I will have to double dip as I did XBOX/PC.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

And they should definitely do it. They are a small studio though, so those versions would probably have to be outsourced or ported at a later date by From Software. Judging by the quality of the Dark Souls PC port, I would rather hope for some outsourcing

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Hmmm... a little too late for me but good news for others.
