They have proven their chops as developers of 2D platformers, as well as their mastery of the "spirit" of Metroid. They should combine the two for something similar to Shadow Complex in design

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
OMG! there will be a ND next week revealing the next 3d Metroid game!? :O
yeah one can dream :P

Give me another Metroid FPA and I'll be a very happy bunny indeed!!!
I'd tell them to make a Metroid Prime 4 and the second, less experienced team to convert the MP Trilogy into HD just to get the basics of what making a Metroid game is all about. After that I'd mix the teams a bit and tell the first team to make a new IP and the second one should go on making Metroids (not just Primes).
A new Prime or just Trilogy HD is enough to make me buy a Wii U.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
Well at least Nintendo still considers Metroid important even though they didn't celebrate his 25th birthday.

I still think that Metroid would work in a third person perspective like Dead Space.
I don´t want them to turn Metroid in a run of the mill Uncharted/Gears of War clone...
...but I think it would be a great way to ephasize the platforming/ overhaul the combat system (they probably could make it just as the Primes with a lock on feature) and make things fresh again after 3 firsp person adventures...

Oh hell yes!
The only downside to Retro's mind-blowing games is the wait between them, and only getting two per generation. Seeing more of their work would be amazing!
In lieu of a new Metroid game, we would be happy to buy Metroid Prime Trilogy HD next year, Nintendo. Just saying.

Nah, I've already played those multiple times. HD isn't a significant enough upgrade for me to buy them again. I'd rather they made something mind blowing and new.
