Forums - Gaming - Nokia Lumia 1020 upstages the Sony Xperia Z1 at Sony’s own launch event

yes, its bullshit.

My Nokia 920 and all Nokia's as far as I know are singled out in all reviews bar none for their low light capability.  Indeed they have an entire marketing campaign built around it.  The XperiaZ1 just makes eveything too light and you lose contrast and definition.  It would be nice to know how light the room was and which is the most accurate reflection and what was trying to be achieved in the shot.

The Nokia also comes bundled with Nokia Procam app (amongst many others) which brings all manner of manual capability to make any shot possioble.  So if I want a washed out, overly bright pic like the Sony one above, I can achieve that too.

I was perfectly happy with the 920 but getting to play around with the Procam app made me want the 1020. The app is terrific on the 920 and I can just imagine how amazing it is on the 1020 with that sensor.

Did no one read this post?

Was that research done by a firm paid by Sony? My HTC one takes better night shots than that. Autofocus doesn't do too hot. They need to pick a focus point to get better lighting.

You ask that question now but think there's nothing wrong with posting a comparison from a Windows Phone fansite?

It seems like these were taken in almost complete darkness. When do you take night shots in almost complete darkness?

Those shots were taken by a Thai website, the original source. I could have posted the original website text, but I doubt people here can read Thai..

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Smartphone wise Samsung and HTC have Sony beat to shit. Sony phones get upstaged across the ranges, with one exception, the Xperia Z Ultra, amazing screen for its size, certainly upstages the galaxy mega 6.3.

Hahaha seriously? You dont see the first pic is out of focus? Even my android 2007 phone takes better pics. Z1 takes more natural pics than the Nokia.  http://unleashthephones.com/2013/09/14/gallery-sony-xperia-z1-and-nokia-lumia-925-low-light-photography-comparison/

Here is something to consider...was this test performed using optimal settings on the Lumias? I can take a photo in pitch dark and make it much brighter than that using the Lumia 920.

For example, the Camera Pro app has manual shutter speed control. You can leave the shutter open for up to 4 seconds. Leaving it open for that long will usually make pitch dark photos appear too bright when you leave the shutter open for 4 seconds.

1. The first pic is a crop of a much larger picture. Try zooming in with your 2007 Android and see what it looks like

2. Lumia 1020 is a much better camera than 925 which you are comparing the Z1 to in that review

So yea...but no.

Your post suggests otherwise.

They are both bad cameras. I'm gonna stick to my DSLR, thanks.
