Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft’s Spencer on Xbox One Demand

He could probably come up with some misleading number that's "one more" by saying something like they've shipped more consoles to retailers or they're producing consoles at a faster rate or they'll make more money selling less systems due to the higher price point or something. If you try hard enough, there's always a way to bullshit consumers. I remember when the Gamecube was selling worse than the PS2 and Xbox and one year they said "Nintendo is the only one that can claim growth" or something like that. That's what he meant. If they wanted to, they could find that bullshit angle.

I know you'll probably never see this since you're dating supermodels in France or something but I've been reading your posts.  Looking at Xbox One sales vs PS4 sales, maybe the Xbox One folks weren't lying.  Hindsight is 20/20.

Ms pr is about as trust worthy as a criminal at a parole hearing. They have said some blatant lies and FUD the last year to try and deceive and pray on the ignorant consumer.

Every indication we have shows that the PS4's pre-orders are greatly outnumbering the One's, because of both demand and supply.  The real reason they didn't throw out a number is because it would make them look bad in comparison to Sony's 1M+.  I'd be surprised if they have even reached 500K at this point.  For you and MB1025 to even suggest that Sony is lying about that number shows you guys are really reaching for straws.

@MB1025

They officially said over 1 million preorders at Gamescom.  It was Yoshida, a few weeks later, in an interview that said millions.  So, either they have hit 2M preorders since Gamescom, or Yoshida mispoke and they are probably closer to 1.5M.  Either way, it will be well above MS's preorders at this point.  And Sony is going to have enough supply to meet those preorders, and then some.  In the end, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a ~1M gap this year alone between the PS4 and One.

You believe everything Sony says I bet lol. I was pointing out that some believe everything Sony says but nothing MS says. 500k ok dude I guess you're throwing around your numbers to. I basically asked nothing but why believe one but not the other if they tossed a number. GTFO with that reaching for straw shit. I didn't say nor do I give predictions on anything.

You are reaching for straws, though.  It's quite sad, but you're accusing Sony of lying about an actual number, not some PR jargin (which MS keeps giving). Again, an ACTUAL number.  One that can be proven or disproven.  And if Sony was lying, not only would they look a fool to customers, but more importantly, to their investors.

Yeah it is quite sad that you believe everything a company tells you. I'm not accusing them of lying I'm saying why believe one but not the other. You know put the shoe on the other foot type thing. I haven't said once that Sony is lying but you have intimated that you dont/wouldnt believe anything MS says. I asked why that is. I know why you don't though and yes it is quite sad for you.

Yet you magically believe Microsofts number that they announced before 24 hours was up... Works both ways. MS the company that got caught lying and making up FUD secret sauce performance numbers the last year.  Pure damage control. He didnt mention numbers for a reason, sony is leading in every territory after launching in europe.

I knew Halo 5 was official for 2014. Thanks for reviving this.

I don't even know what his one more comment is supposed to mean and I don't really care. I already have mine paid off and it will sell really well. Good enough to get every major third party game and lots of exclusives.

If you are an Xbox fan... then this ^^^^ is really all that matters. To be honest as long as Sony beats them well, but not so well that 3rd party skip the console, I think that is enough, for both Sony and MS Fans. Sure MS won't be happy but as long as end users don't lose out, thats all that matters.

sales number don't really matter (they do but it's just one element)... profit margin and attached rate and services sold is where it is at and at that game I think MS is in a better position than Sony even with a lower sale number... at 500 bucks they probably don't lose much money if any and they are really good at monetizing the XBL service and apps and all.... I wouldn't be surprised that this time again XB will be more profitable for MS and even devs even if they end up third in sales....

but we'll see, this gen will really be interesting, at least for people that care about those numbers and all... because the race will be way closer all things considered than last gen between PS/XB

WTF?? X1 cost more to make, not to mewntion R&D marketing... Seriously you are way off base. Sony is set to profit more with bigger sales then MS. X1 cost more to make period (Kinect).

Umm no, how do we know how accurate that is?? PS Sony launched in 2 countires and sold as much as 13 for MS, sony outsold x1 in MS strongest territory. Dem interpretation skills.

Man you going hard for Sony

My god you keep beating that drum don't you? Everyone knows Sony shipped 1 million consoles to North America first week, MS shipped the same to 13 countries first week. It does not mean that MS did worse than Sony, it means that they decided to take a straight forward approach rather than delay a WW launch for less traffic issues and more time to manufacture.

No point in arguing with you.

You'll just take anything rational or logical and throw it out the window and bring up something irrelevant to the main point of the conversation.  Take a look at my response to your comment again.

Good night.
