Forums - Microsoft - Battlefield 4 on Xbox One could feature head-tracking

GameSpot

Battlefield 4 on Xbox One could feature Kinect-powered head-tracking, executive producer Patrick Bach said in a new interview on the Xbox Wire.

He explained that DICE is "looking into" features that "enhance" controls, including using Kinect for peeking and leaning, as well as further head-tracking. This is in addition to using Kinect for voice commands.

In July, DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson said Battlefield 4 would use Kinect on Xbox One only "where it will make sense."

"We have a pretty pragmatic view [on Kinect]," Magnus Troedsson said at the time. "Instead of just trying to tick all the boxes of features you can do with new hardware, we look at what actually adds value [for] our players."

Also in the Xbox Wire interview, Bach confirmed that Battlefield 4 on Xbox One will support 64 players and run at 60 frames-per-second. "This is a big deal for us because it's always something we've wanted to deliver but we couldn't do it without taking away from the core 'Battlefield' experience," he said.

Sounds bad ass to me.

*Crickets chirp*

*Goes to negative Xbox thread*

OT: If more and more developers start doing these kinds of features on Xbox One, and skipping PS4 features since they aren't guaranteed good camera adoption on PS4, it could become more of a factor. Devs need to use Kinect well!

I'd hope by now that he has a fair idea of whether this is going to happen or not.

A little over 2 months til release date - and games usually go gold a month or so before release.

So that's a month to get it working!

Probably not something I'd use much - but may turn out to be a cool feature regardless. I'd just hope for something a little more conclusive than "looking into it" at this stage....

No thanks

Head tracking would only really be good in a racing game with a 3 screen set up. It would be absolutely pointless ( and a negative) on a single screen shooter.

Hoping form developers support probably more wishful thinking.  MS need to put that money where their mouth is and go ahead and offer some cash for Solid support.  It's tricky since MS and even the dev studio want to do something that actually will be useful.  Head tracking is something that probably can be done on both consoles without to much custom coding between the two consoles.

I probably would like head tracking if its smooth and allow me to use my stick for something else useful.

Lol how do you know if it isn't good on BF4? It's a plus for Xbox One

All you have to do is think about it, if you've used the head tracking before you'll know why.

So since it's no good to you it's universally bad for everyone?
