Forums - Nintendo - Wii U weekly average if no delays?

weekly average sales?

no boost (35k) 11 22.45%

small boost (40-50k) 12 24.49%

modest boost (50-70k) 16 32.65%

large boost (70-100k) 5 10.20%

MASSIVE BOOST (100k+) 5 10.20%

Total:49

Wii U had a strong launch, selling over 2.2m in 2012 but it had a lack of games to follow it up in 2013. Games like Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Game & Wario, Wii Fit U, Rayman Legends were all exclusives slated for the first half of the year but unfortunately they were were all delayed and games like Aliens Colonial Marines and Metro Last Light were cancelled.

Wii U went on to have no games release in January & February, only one game in April & June, March & May had a handful of games. The weekly sales this year have averaged 35k. Lets speculate what the weekly average would be if the release schedule looked more like this

January-Pikmin 3, Need For Speed Most Wanted

February-Rayman Legends, Aliens Colonial Marines

March-Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

April-Wii Fit U, Injustice Gods Among Us

May-Wonderful 101, Resident Evil Revelations

June-Game & Wario, Metro Last Light

July-New Super Luigi U

August-Splinter Cell Blacklist, Disney Infinity

September-Wind Waker HD, Scribblenauts Unmasked

This would give it a steady stream of exclusives and multiplats and while I dont think sales would be massive, I think its weekly average would be more 50-70k as long as it had decent advertising to go along with these games. What are ur predictions if this happened?

It would definitely be higher, but the question is how much higher.

May to August is still quite weak in terms of what those games sold. So sales would have still dropped back unless Wii Fit U really kicked off which I personally couldn't see happening. The list is still missing the big hitters if they were present it would sell alot more

A thousand or two more a week, seriously.

Assuming all games did not experience delays...~42k average, though that's without Wii Fit U. For me, that's a wild-card.

Assuming Nintendo marketed the system... potentially as high as 60k, though more realistically around 50k.

Tbh not much more than its doing now, 40k a week tops. Between May and August 35k. The problem is most of those games aren't games that people buy systems for apart from Pikmin, Zelda and WiiU fit for some mums wanting to lose some weight are the exceptions.

I don't think it would be that much different. Pikmin and Rayman aren't going to sell consoles if Mario + Nintendo Land + Call of Duty aren't.

It would've been nicer for people who bought the system though.

If Pikmin + Rayman + W101 were going to sell a lot of consoles we should be seeing a decent bump at least now, but it doesn't look like it.

Nintendo should've just throw a craptop of money to some studio to deliver a good Metroid spin-off or something like that for a March 2013 release, that probably would've soothed a lot of the problems.

But thats the thing, it had 7 months of decline before those games released, it needs time to rebuild momentum plus one of them is no longer exclusive. if those games released in the first few months of the year, they could have helped sustain the hype and momentum Wii U had at launch and would have given Nintendo a reason to actually market the thing since it had a steady flow of games coming to it.

And Nintendo Land+NSMBU are selling the console, their attach ratios prove this. Whay do u think the weekly average would be?
