Forums - Nintendo - in which order are the Metroid games played?

The order they released or the in-universe chronological order?

The former goes Metroid - Return of Samus - Super - Prime/Fusion - Echoes/Zero Mission - Prime Hunters - Corruption - Other M.

The latter goes Metroid/Zero Mission - Prime - Echoes - Prime Hunters - Corruption - Return of Samus - Super - Other M - Fusion.

now I'm confused. does Prime Hunters come after or before Echoes.

Can you play all these games on Wii U? If not, how many consoles do you have to buy to play them all? Damn, if Nintendo released Metroid Prime Trilogy HD, I'd buy a Wii U in a heartbeat xD

we need an HD collection not a Triology HD XD

Everything except original Metroid, Fusion, and Metroid II (i think) are playable on Wii U through backwards compatibility and the virtual console.

Wii U/3DS combo makes every game playable, as i think Metroid was released in 3D classics, wasn't it?

Oh, right, Fusion is only for 3DS early adopters atm.

Metroid came out for the Wii U VC back in July

Did not know that.

I should look into it. Save states would go a long way towards making that game more playable (as i tried before, on the version unlockable on GC Metroid Prime, but having to scrape all your health back together after every save was just aggravating. Save States you could do it all in one run...)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Personally, I have also began with Zero Mission, then played Super Metroid and then Fusion. I have not played the 3D ones because I don't have a Wii =(. But if I had one, I'd play the Prime trilogy and then Other M. Yeah, a lot of people don't like it, but "a lot of people" is not "me". =P

Oh, and I tried Metroid 2, but just couldn't be bothered. It's EXTREMELY outdated, there's no map, which is VERY glaring as every area looks the same. Too bad there's no remake, although a fan is doing one and is looking pretty damn good.

Other M and avoid everything else. Don't let those haters get to you. They liked silent Samus because they liked to pretend that they were women. They imagined her to be whatever their sick perverted minds came up with. Other M had great gameplay, a couple of WTF moments and a cool story.

I'm just kidding about avoiding everything else. In my opinion, Zero Mission, Fusion, and Super are gaming gold (in that order) and the Prime series is pretty spectacular, too.

Avoid prime hunters. Metroid other m and fusion look like masterpieces compared to that awful game. I don't know if it ties into the universe at all. If it does i think it's around the same time as Prime 3. The characters in it are amazing, the gameplay is not metroid, it's not even good. Metroid 2 Is the very best of the worst. Its actually really amazing for exploration. And a lot of the staples from the series originated in metroid 2. Other m is good to. Fusion is meh.

Am I am the only one who loves Metroid 2? Those Metroid evolutions were so cool!
Can't wait to play that fan remake.

It's not supposed to be a FPS.....

Yes it is.  A platforming FPS.  While the main portion of the game is first person platforming and exploring, shooting still plays a big role in the game, so regardless what fans want to try and sell it as, a large portion of the gameplay is a poorly developed FPS.

I forgot about Metroid Prime Hunters which was even more of a FPS.  Also not very good.

Want to know first person platformers done right?  Half Life is one and it came out several years before Metroid Prime did.  Mirror's Edge is another such game.  It doesn't have the exploration to where you can go back to areas you've previously been, but itdoes include exploration within each level and does a hell of a better job with its gameplay than Metroid does.  When using guns against enemies, something you almost never do on Mirror's Edge, it much better than on Metroid Prime.
