Forums - Nintendo - Can you be a Nintendo fan, but not a Nintendo gamer?

What do you call a person who plays any game on any brand then?

A whore.

Or open-minded, whichever best suits the situation.

...well, I know the opposite is true.

I play Nintendo games with some degree of regularity, but it would be quite a stretch to consider me a fan.

As far as the actual question goes, probably so. I imagine it would require a pretty specific mindset, but it doesn't sound impossible.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

No, it makes no sense how can you be a Nintendo fan or gamer if you DONT have a Ninty system?

Can you be a Ninty gamer without being a fan?

I don't think there's really any such thing as a "______ Gamer". If you play games, that's about as far as it goes.

Saying you're a ____ Gamer, to me, means you're basically a _______ Fanboy.

I'm a Nintendo fan, but I'll play whatever piques my interest. It just so happens that most retail games on Xbox or PS don't do that, even though I have owned a Sony console as well these last two gens.

I've had just about every Nintendo home console with the exception of the Wii U. I think the Wii U is a great system, but just haven't gotten one yet since the other consoles were coming soon so I wanted to wait for that.

Oh, so you're the devious, vicious kinda Nintendo fan? :p

Wait for the competition to arrive in stores, 10 million Nintendo fans rush to the store and pick up a WiiU just to have laugh at Sony and MS. " What? You actually thought you stood a chance? Bwahahaa!"

Better question: Can you be a Nintendo fan and still be a Nintendo hater?

Yeah, they're called Gamecube fans. People who claim to be Nintendo fans, but are largely fans of the Gamecube, are not really true Nintendo fans. Yes Nintendo made the Gamecube, but it was a very un-Nintendo-like platform. The Gamecube was more or less a Junior Playstation, rather than a true console in the spirit of Nintendo.

These Gamecube fans usually hate all of the other Nintendo consoles and are much more likely to prefer the style of games that are prominent on Playstation consoles. So they hate Nintendo even though they call themselves Nintendo fans.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Sure you can, you just needed to have a TV when this was out...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w2fi_f5OLY

You should ask Pezus, he's a Nintendo fan but doesn't own either the 3DS or Wii U (idk if he has a Wii or a Gamecube).

Does an emulator count? :O

No Pezus it doesn't count. You are disgrace to the Nintendo fan community.

Not to mention. A thief;P

I don't know, I have mixed feelings all the time. I love their software but hate their hardware. Mario galaxy is one of the best games I've ever played, but to be honest the SD graphics kinda hurt my eyes after being so used to playing in HD. It's the same with the DS/3DS, I love a lot of Nintendo's games like Pilot wings, but my god those pixels are massive and distracting.

However, big however, Nintendo are one of the last few companies to remember that there are millions, probably ten's of millions, of platform game fans out there and actually cater to the market. For that reason alone I will support them. And they do make damn good platform games.

So yes I do consider myself a Nintendo fan even though I do criticize their hardware and think the gamepad was a huge, huge (pun intended) mistake.
I feel the same way about and Sony though. I love their dediction to platformers too with the LBP and SLY series, but I'll be damned if I still don't think they made very questionable hardware choices. I don't even need to mention the mis-steps they made with the PS3 at the start.
