I liked the presentation. There's no need to redesign your phone every single year and smartphones are slowly hitting a wall in terms of CPU speed and screen size. The 5C looks nice (too pricey though) and iOS7 should turn out great. Basically just what everyone expected.

Next year will see the hardware redesign with a 4.5-5" screen and a retina-retina display (1280p)

The days of the four digit passcode are gone, thanks to Touch ID built right into the sapphire glass home button. A stainless steel detection ring runs outside the button, which turns on the sensor to read your fingerprint. Even better, Touch ID will allow you to authenticate for apps, such as iTunes. No more entering that password!

...

huh, that's pretty cool.

The fingerprint is stored locally on the phone. Not on iCloud, not on any servers. Developers have no access to the fingerprint data. I'm not sure just how secure that is but it's way better than expected.

How does it compare to the Galaxy S4 for example?

Aw, come on man! I was hoping for mass hysteria.

If there's one thing that Edward Snowden taught us, it's that the NSA knows everything that is stored on your smartphone. Doesn't matter if it's encrypted or not, it doesn't need to be uploaded to some cloud or anything. They know it anyway. And that is true for every system from US companies, so not just iOS, but also Android and Windows Phone. Basically every smartphone in the world is being monitored by the NSA.

If that is a deal breaker for you, you'll have to know for yourself. But to me the price is the real deal breaker. I mean, the "cheap" iPhone will cost 599 € around here! For a dumbed down iPhone! The Xperia Z is available for 449 € (!!) and is better in oh so many ways. What the hell, apple?!

That new 64bit A7 chip is impressive.. Even ARM themself haven't finished their 64bit processor.. Will be nice to see what kinda games will come from this

I was a little skeptical of the fingerprint scanner, but knowing it's encrypted and stored in the hardware, I'd feel pretty secure in using it.

Most people weren't expecting CPU/GPU performance to double again, so impressive that Apple managed to maintain their SoC pace. The 64-bit transition is going to matter in a couple years when iPads start to want more than 4GB of RAM.

The M7 co-processor is actually the most surprising new hardware feature, and it's one of those features whose implications is hard to fathom. It might go nowhere special beyond being a simple pedometer, or it could be applied in crazy situations like earthquake detection and traffic monitoring.
