If there's one thing that Edward Snowden taught us, it's that the NSA knows everything that is stored on your smartphone. Doesn't matter if it's encrypted or not, it doesn't need to be uploaded to some cloud or anything. They know it anyway. And that is true for every system from US companies, so not just iOS, but also Android and Windows Phone. Basically every smartphone in the world is being monitored by the NSA.
If that is a deal breaker for you, you'll have to know for yourself. But to me the price is the real deal breaker. I mean, the "cheap" iPhone will cost 599 € around here! For a dumbed down iPhone! The Xperia Z is available for 449 € (!!) and is better in oh so many ways. What the hell, apple?!
