Forums - Sales - VGChartz tracking PS Vita TV?

If its not tracked as a Vita we shouldnt have 2ds added to 3DS or PS3 Slim added to PS3 or XBox 360 E added to XBox 360 etc. etc.
Its a part of the Vita family, obviously it will be tracked withe the other 2 Vita models

Agree: if it could play a superset of games including all or a subset of PSV games plus its own games, it would be a new platform (and it could be argued that DSi actually is, compared to plain DS), but not having its own games and playing a subset of PSV games, it can't be considered a new and different platform.

Might be part of the family, but it's not the same device. 2DS is still the same basic device as 3DS; it plays the same games and it's portable. Vita TV isn't portable and doesn't play all the games. It's more of a streaming service aching more of AppleTV than a portable gaming machine.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Umm wtf? Didnt realize having access to a massive libary of physical and digital games makes you a streaming service. Guess that makes PS360U more of a streaming service too right? PS Vita TV is an 8th gen home console that plays games from the Vita family libary, its as easy as that.

If they do then don't combine it. The software it sells will be counted towards the Vita anyway.

In uncharted's case it's probably the camera needed for that one minigame. Also this Jerry rigged technique would really only work for menus. During gameplay it's too impractical.

Ooh.

Sorry for going offtopic but since you seem to be the only one on I'm sure you can help me with this question..

"there appears to be some color wash-out occurring on the off-angle Vitas, which would indicate that we’re looking at a TN screen."
Source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7294/sony-announces-ps-vita-2000-ps-vita-tv

^ What does that mean exactly?

And can you tell me the difference between OLED and LCD (Sorry I'm kind of a noob in this ~-~).

TN is the type of LCD design that is most common but it has drawbacks in viewing angle (among other things) which is fixed with IPS designs.  It seems Anandtech was hoping the downgrade from OLED to LCD wouldn't drop all the way down to the lowest quality design of LCD.

What's the problem for viewing angle? It's intended for ONE user that stays in front of it.

MY two cents:

Features PSP GO (tracked together with PSP) PS Vita TV
Plays games on connected TV YES YES
Plays games with Dual Shock 3 YES YES
Plays game format of console in it's NAME YES YES
Plays PHISICAL GAMES of that format NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Online store avaiable for purchase of  game format in device name YES YES
Bakwards compatible NOT APPLICABLE YES (SAME as portable Vita)
Plays ALL games of respective  format? NO NO (SAME THING!)
GAMING CONSOLE YES YES

(last one is lame, I recognize that XD)

VitaTV has more in common with AppleTV and PS360 than it has with Vita. The only thing VitaTV and Vita has in common are the games - and not even ALL the games at that. I think your last sentence describe it pretty good; an 8th gen HOME console. Therefore, VitaTV shouldn't count to the Vita sales. HANDheld and HOME consoles are different things.

Probably not much of a problem really.  Just an issue Anandtech had.  But as I noted that there are other drawbacks with TN that are solved with IPS.  They also have better color reproduction, are clearer, have more stable response times and do not introduce image artifacts or discoloration on touch panels when touched.

I think they were just using the viewing angle as their means of determining that it was a TN LCD rather than actually having a problem with the limited viewing angle itself.

PSP GO DIDN'T PLAY ALL PSP GAMES, it also invaded HOME consoles territory.
The ENTIRE system software and the internal HARDWARE are the same of portable Vita.

Was PSOne (with CAR KIT, WITH DISPLAY, NOT only HOME console) added to PS (home console) sales?

Is 2DS (3DS without KEY feature Nintendo intended 3DS with, and promoted A LOT) tracked HERE together with 3DS and 3DSXL?

Yes, ps vita tv should count as vita sales.

2ds = Nintendo took away the 3D effect and subtracted the clam shell design. They also took away stereo speakers for mono.

PS Vita tv = Sony took away the buttons and triggers, the OLED front screen/touchscreen functionality, the rear touch pad, the headphone jack, the front and rear cameras, and finally gyroscope/accelerometer

Just because Sony is more hardcore with stripping a product of its features DOESN'T mean it shouldnt count as a ps vita. I hope this product will take off and boost vita sales.
