Forums - General Discussion - Kinda new to anime , can anyone recomend anything.

I don't know. I watch a lot of anime... but i can't really recommend any of it.

I don't know.

Yu Yu Hakusho I always enjoyed. Good amount of action in that show, I think there is a fight nearly every episode. So the action will be there.

Also once the main character gets his group... his group actually does stuff. Which is a big plus for me.

Nothing pisses me off more in anime then "Main Character" syndrome... where no one but the main character can do anything... other then get beat on until the main character gets there. (I'm looking at you DBZ.)

Only downside is it's kinda sexist. Aside from one character who only occasionally does anything all the girls are the typical "I can't do anything" type.

You are going to get that from most anime from what i can tell though.

When you're ready, you should move on to more advanced Anime's like Monster.

YES. I'm about halfway through that show, and it is fantastic.

humm... quite interesting. I wonder how that series slipped through my fingers especially since it haves a really good rating in AniDB. For those wondering what Monster is then click here

btw... did any of you ever watched the Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni series'?

Yep. Higurashi is really good but definitely not for everyone.

By the way... Eva is quite possibly the worst anime I've ever watched (on par with Sexy Commando) except for maybe 2 episodes around the time Asuka is first introduced.

humm i must not recall Eva or Sexy Commando. It must be one of those that I filtered out. I do know one of the worst anime's I have watch have to be Kiba and alot of the new mainstream anime's that is airing in japan. It is as if the quality of anime is being lowered. However, on occasion a couple decent or good ones pop up that I may enjoy. For example, this season one of the few animes that I have found watchable was Dragonaut

Princess Mononoke is a good one, someone mentioned that.

Also, Blood: The Last Vampire is a good one.

Haibane Renmei is really good, and I like Perfect Blue, very good thriller.

At least 62 million Wii sold by the end of 09 or my mario avatar will get sad

Bleach(skip Bounto Arc, it's so pointless lol)
Naruto up to episode 135, then watch Naruto Shippuuden, which takes place 2 or 3 years after Naruto
Chrono Crusade
Trigun
Outlaw Star
Gundam series

And for 2 game related animes

Devil May Cry. It's 12 episodes long and is like a mini-series within itself. Many episodes are slightly related, but it's still awesome.

Last Order - Final Fantasy VII

Start with this ones (depending on ur taste):

YuYu Hakusho - Fight
Death Note - "Detective"
Full Metal Alchemist - all around

There is a lot of good animes like slayers, monster, cowboy beebop, etc... use: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?noalias=2&orderby=rating&orderdir=1&show=animelist

The classic recommendations are Akira and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Akira is extremely good but the violence is VIOLENT (though not gory for gore's sake) and does not pull punches, especially at the end, so know what you're getting into. NGE I have not watched in full, but by all accounts is a skullfucking head-trip and your brain WILL hurt. Its violence is also graphic. It gets very twisted and is unrelenting in its twistedness.

Dominion Tank Police is good fun.

I like Tenchi Muyo! and Tenchi Universe quite a bit. Stay away from Tenchi in Tokyo. I haven't watched Tenchi GXP. The movies are OK, but I didn't really enjoy the third one.

Ranma is pretty good but has inferior character development compared to the manga.

InuYasha is pretty good but goes ON and ON and ON. I haven't seen the ending.

Anything by Miyazaki has good odds of being excellent. I especially recommend Mononoke. Kiki's Delivery Service is good too, and you get to hear Phil Hartman as a cat.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

I'm not very into anime, but I think its strange that no one has recommended Serial Experiments Lain. Its confusing at first but very satisfying once you put it all together and understand it. Like FLCL.

Edit: someone did recommend it, but still its good.
