They need more AAA multiplats and people still cannot differentiate the Wii U from the PS3 and 360. This is where the PS4 and Xbone will have the advantage in their debut. If you ask me, the tablet is holding the Wii U back......BIGTIME.

Because AAA multiplats sold 100 million Wii's ...........No, multiplat is irrelevant on a Nintendo console. They just need to start putting out software that takess advantage of the gamepad and market the damn thing properly and they will be fine.

You're a smart one aren't you? It's quite obvious the Wii is a once in a blue moon ordeal. The marketshare Nintendo amassed last gen will not be here in the next gen, which is why analysts have predicted that this generation the overall marketshare will shrink. When nintendo fails a gimmick, they are basically back to feeding their loyal crowd which hangs at around thirty million. If they up their third party at least a bit more they'll be able to make it forty by the end of this generation. Of all the people to understand my point, I thought Michael Pachter would be the last. Nintendo will need third party support more than you know because this generation is going to be very, very rough.

Yeah, AC3, COD:G and Batman AC really helped Wii U's launch.

You can keep going on and on about how Nintendo needs the big AAA games or they can't succeed, but that doesn't make it true.

Nintendo consoles aren't Sony or MS consoles.

WiiU biggest issue has always been content. Content is now arriving. It would've been perfect had EA not been a total dick and put their sports games this holiday too, but all in all Wii U has great content this holiday.

People preordering PS4/XBone and buying this holiday almost exclusively wouldn't have changed their minds and bought a Wii U at any price. These are fans of the console/company.

This holiday isn't the war. Next holiday is. This holiday we'll see MSony basically sold out. This holiday we'll see WiiU normalize and sell very well.

2014 we'll see the winner of the gen emerge.

I keep saying ... should do a bundle with a digital game (Zelda, Mario, ect.) without the tablet controller (wii u pro controller in its place) for $250.00.

Nintendo would still make plenty of money off of it with the cost of the controller factored out, and people could still play about 90% of the games for the system.

Start selling the tablet controller separate as well so people have the option to buy it.

This is no different than the 2ds strategy which looks like it will work out nicely for Nintendo at such a competitive price point.

i would imagine removing the gamepad would be a bit more difficult than removing 3d, seeing as 3d was optional even in the regular 3ds, gamepad? not so much

"tremendously more powerful"

Have to call a spade a spade.  Wii U is only about as powerful techwise versus One and Four as Wii was to 3 and 360.  And it's getting the same amount of love from third parties as Wii did.

So X1 is 74 times more powerful than a Wii U? I need some of that shit you are smoking. :D

It was already discussed above that leading third parties don't consider Wii U to be up to snuff for their games eg. Bungie and Destiny Bethesda with Elder Scrolls Online and that thus far Wii U has failed to differentiate itself from the 360 and PS3.

As the article about its chipset that came out back before E3 said "It's not a Next Gen console."

Wrong.

Wii wasn't just SD versus HD in PS3/360, but used a fundamentally different graphics setup, fixed function versus programmable shaders. This barrier does not exist beween Wii U and PS4/Xbone. The gap is considerably smaller this time around.

Doubtful ... Microsoft and Sony are brewing up a storm that the Wii U will be unable to contend with. This ain't the 3DS and Vita.

We'll see how Activision handles Destiny after they seperate from Vivendi this month, so far I'm counting out EA until sales picks up(to be fair they did try, although they did a really shitty job), Take 2 certainly doesn't give a fuck about Nintendo, neither does ZeniMax or Konami. So far the Wii U has Activision, Square Enix, Capcom, WB, SEGA, Namco Bandai, Ubisoft, and other smaller ones.

Elder Scrolls Online looks like shit BTW, I'm waiting for EQNext, now that, looks awesome.

In reply to your edit: Current gen started when the Wii U came out, welcome to the generation of Wii U, X1, and PS4, because if you are counting technology, PS4 and X1 are already pretty weak as well since PCs from last year can already rape them even when people keep dreaming and saying shit like "code to the metal."

Let's face it, so many Wii buyers were first time console buyers, and not because they were / are kids. Wii U isn't on their radar, because they haven't actually become gamers. The committed multi-gen console gamers are primarily on PS3 and 360, and Wii U offers them nothing of note to take them away from Sony and MS.

Wii is looking like a one generation wonder, which ended up not being all that much of a wonder given Wii's going to struggle to outsell PS1 and won't come anywhere close to PS2's record, and with PS3 and Xbox 360 making late runs at Wii the final tally isn't going to look all that amazing.

Wii U really has no where to go except back to its core fan base, which is not all that big.

Why should Nintendo lower the price when both XB1 and PS4 are going to face shortages for some time and they will start bring the actual games?

A parent who enters a store and sees recognizable faces like DK, Mario, Zelda, will see it as a good present for his kid(s) or just wants to buy the first console for his family, in the face of a smaller price or shortages, he will buy the 299$ console without a problem.

XB1 and PS4`s biggest competitors will actually be the Xb360 and PS3 because not only their games still look good, they are way cheaper and most of PS4 and XB1`s games will also come out on the older machines.
