very smart advertisement for the people they are shooting for

whom is that?  the nfl fan that is watching an nfl game but really wishes they had a way to watch the game they are already watching?    that guy that wants to watch football but is desperate to have the game interupted by video chat calls?  the dude that thinks the already persistant onscreen game stat updates isn't enough and want to dedicate even more screen space to games other than the one they wanted to watch?

Around the Network

I hope they will do the same with Premier League and FIFA in UK.

Nice.

I think they understand that 20 plus million people are going to be watching the game tonight while this ad runs on TV.

I think this demonstrates my point, which you clearly didn't get.

Then add the fact that no games were shown...and you see the overlap diminish.

fact is the whole blue group is adressed and could be converted into red this fig is not telling the whole story at all

Addressed, yes.

Converted, absolutely not. No NFL fan who isn't also a gamer is going to drop $500 on this thing. I can't believe you're even suggest it. That's quite the delusive thought process.

Not one?  Really?  There is no possibiloty of even one NFL fan buying a ONE due to this marketing?

Wow.  marketing is  a myth.  forget it.  Google, close your doors.

It's true I'm afraid. Advertising agencies have been laughing for years.

OT: Stuff like this makes me want to get the One straight away and this stuff won't even be in the UK.

2nd question-you know that there are other easier ways to watch a game? Why go to a game if you could just watch from somewhere else?

3rd-The guy who doesn't think it's desperate or that it's an interruption. Just cause you say it doesn't make it true.

4th-maybe it won't be intrusive to most people at all. PiP works great. Side by Side(ESPN) also works great.

If a bit of hyperbole is enough to upset you this much, you probably should not frequent the internet sir.

Agreed. Terrible graph.

Contrary to what dsgrue thinks, there will be many NFL fans that are not gamers that gain an interest in the Xbox One for this commercial and for its media features.

If a non gamer becomes a gamer as a result, that's another win for MS.

Thinking that the target audience is only gamers is ridiculous. If non gamers never bought gaming products, the Wii would be much lower in sales. And people spend hundreds on media machines all the time as well.

The Wii didn't draw people in to watch TV. It brought in people to play games in an easy way. It was accessible (and affordable).

This device is pretending to be more than a gaming machine and I won't be deluded into thinking it's something more. To expect an NFL fan not interested in gaming to see that commerical and buy the XBO is quite foolish.

Ok guys let me explain the graphs better...

 1. you understand that you can't watch NFL on xbone without already having a cable service with a subscription to ESPN right?  this changes nothing about what content you have access to.  it's not a matter of going to the game or getting an xbox.  it's a matter of paying $500 + $60 a year in xbl to watch the same games that the ESPN subscriber already has access to just without the fantasy football stats on the side.  is that really a compelling offer to you?

2. ..and just because you say it doesn't make it true.  but i know i don't answer any calls during a game.  whatever it is it can wait.

3. have you not seen the screens?  it is damn intrusive imo...    i'd rather have half my screen back especially as a majority of the score updates are already part of the brocast.

Back to TV and Skype huh?

Microsoft simply does not understand the desires of the market.

While it may not interest many of us, it is still very much a market worth advertising too. For that purpose, the advert was great.

1- In case of ESPN you just need internet subscription not cable. And I pay $32 a year for XBL.

2- I call my cousin during the games to tell him in your face when my team scores. With Skype? It's really gonna be in his face.

3- I'm used to watch European soccer leagues on week-end with a shrunk screen by news tickers cause I'm a sport junkie.

Perfect device for a gamer/sports fan like me.
