Microsoft says next gen will get 1 billion unit's sales, so Wii U = 50 million, Xb one = 65 million, thus PS4 will sell 885 million lifetime.

70 - 90 mil would be a realistic guess..possibly 100+ don't expect this gen to last as long as ps3 vs 360.

a). PS3 faced fierce competition from Xbox 360, one of the most balanced console fights ever, since Genesis X Super NES; On the other hand, PS4 is launching cheaper than the competition (Xbone), has a lot of good press going for it, has momentum from this generation's end (PS3 is the winner atm), has extremely strong third party support, Nintendo is not doing so well this time around (Wii U in dire straits, although I believe it will improve soon, it hardly will be a Wii again). So all things considered Sony will have to mess up a lot to sell only 80M PS4's, or the market will crash and burn really hard for that to happen. |

Depends on how fast Sony can produce them, I think a maximum of 12-15 million a year for about 6/7 years so about 80-100 million
Impossible to make any good predictions without any market data at all but I do believe it will sell quite a bit less than the PS3, perhaps about 75-80 million lifetime.
PS: Metallicube, you think the PS3 will only sell another 11 million in its entire lifespan? That seems like a very low estimate to me, unless one expects all 7th gen consoles to basically stop moving at all when the 8th gen grid is out and about. Granted, it won't be anywhere near PS2 or PS1 but should be able to sell at least another 15-20 million, emerging markets, rebuys and the small crowd that are content with entering the 7th gen over the next 5 years should provide them with that.
