Forums - Sony - Sony: PS4 UK Pre-order Levels Are “Unprecedented”

February could you launch InFamous so I can pick up my damn PS4 already!? Can't take the suspense!

And we're really supposed to expect Sony would suggest otherwise...why again?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

He used the word "Unprecedented", how dare he? Amazing what some of you will argue about on here lol.

I think I heard this "unprecedented" thing before...

Confirmed that Europe has no preorders?

Any new console which can play older consoles games, is BC. This can be emulation (Virtual Console), physically playing the discs (Wii-U) or streaming (PS4). The facts are, the PS4 is FULLY BC.

Fully BC means that I could play any game released on prior consoles, excluding handhelds, on the PS4, but you can't.  Where's Brigandine, Tactics Ogre, Suikoden 2, Dragon Warrior 7, Castlevania Lament of Innocence, Scarface the World is Yours, Smackdown Here Comes the Pain, etc, etc, etc, etc.

The fact is that the PS3 is no where near fully BC with PSX and PS2 games, and the PS4 is going to be furthere away from that having to recertify them for that console ontop of getting PS3 games working on the console.

Most of us don't purchase digital though, so the system isn't really backwards compatible with any of the games we own.  It's backwards compatible with digital content only.  So there's a difference.  Hopefully in the future 10 years from now, hackers find out how to get all games working on the PS4.  Kind of like the PS3 where even PS3 Slims can play retail copies of PS2 games, just not officially.

They have already said PS1,PS2 and PS3 games will be streamed. There's nothing stopping them from having damn near close to the entire catalog to stream. All they need is a copy of the game code. How hard can that be for Sony? Not hard at all. I suspect this thing is going to be ALOT meatier than most of you believe. lol
