i just think doubters really aughta think for a minute what this means. Nintendo is no. 1 despite missing gta, tes, and a few other big 3rd party gems. Nintendo's first party is so strong, that it's greater than 3rd party and mega corps 1st party COMBINED.
why on earth would Nintendo stop? Their profits are too big. Even n64 and gamecube made enourmous profits. I'd love to see the numbers because i believe, and need proof, that gamecube was more profitable than PS3. Despite selling half as many units. Sony just loses too much money to be considered successful.

Microsoft will profit massively as always.
Nintendo will do well and survive even with some dark 5 years.
Sony and their super amazing console? Good luck with the financials.
Edit: Also, GC was very profitable despite its low sales.

This post not moderated and classified as whining/trolling/flamebait surprises me, considering similar past posts in other threads quickly get in care.
OT, looks like this generation isn't doing well. Wii u was already losing money, and now with the price cut. On the other hand, sw sales of 3ds is still in the low numbers.
Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever
Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe
Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor
Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Sony is massive, and will be fine.........sounds like someone is bitter because the PS4 is gonna destroy the wii-u, Ps2 and Ps1 all over again. That makes it 3-1 Sony.

So much wrong in this post.....
PS2 and PS1 were juggernauts and despite of that, Nintendo was more profitable with the N64.
To answer OP. Microsoft has done very well with Xbox 360 despite the rocky start it had. Once Kinnect hit the market with the Xbox Live subscriptions, Microsoft be laughing all the way to the bank. Sony = 4 billion loses with PS3. Not a very successful venture.
Nintendo did great with their previous consoles and profit margins; however, currently they are bleeding due to Iwata's poor management. 3DS + Wii U both have had horrible momentum following the release and had to rely on a price cut + Mario software during the holiday season to remain relevant.
Nonetheless despite the losses incurred with the 3DS, the 3DS segment should recoup its loses by the end of this fiscal-year and will be a very profitable business from here on.
The Wii U however will be the Gamecube of this generation to be honest. Nintendo really fucked up here, worse than Gamecube. Love Iwata but Iwata lacked foresight and thought the Nintendo brand would once again carry on and people would bindly buy the device. The Wii U will be a poor investment, with R & D, I don't count on the Wii U being profitable.

Pretty much this.
I sometimes wish Nintendo was more diversified so they could take that next step and risk. I think this is what holds them back. Imagine if Nintendo released a PS3 in 2006 and where selling it at such a huge loss as Sony. They been gone by now as no over divisions to limit the overall loss.

It depends on how you define "for a while now." If you define one year as a while now, then yes. Other than that, they've returned to profibility after that one year and are on track to increasing their profits from last year IF things pick up for Wii U and 3DS.
