Does this help load times? Also do SSDs or hybrids help load times if I put one of those in PS4?

Adding an SSD to a PS3 helps with load times somewhat and it also lowers texture pop-in in Skyrim and Rage. Not really worth the money and the sacrifice of storage room in my opinion but who knows, maybe Sony will add more extensive SSD support with the PS4.

So is there partial mandatory installs still (This time in the background)? Or does it depend on the game? For example on PS3 BioShock 1 has 5GB install and GTA V has an 8GB one, whereas TLOU , Uncharted and BioShock Infinite all run from disc.

Well, the HDD speed from the PS4 can't be much faster than the PS3's (I don't know if it's 7200 rpm), while the bluray drive will be 3 times faster.

They said that games will automatically be put on the HDD in background (reducing load times while you play), but that might not be necessary for all games, as the bluray speed might be enough.

Not surprised, but don't expect to be able to run the game without the disc, without something similar to the XBO's original concept.

Unless we can somehow play the game without the disc, this doesn't really affect us.

Well theoretically, Sony has the technology. With cross buy games like PSASBR, every disc was unique and the Vita version of the game could only be put on one account.

Sony could do the same thing but instead of the disc coming with the vita version, it comes with a digital version with a few extra restrictions. Then if a friend plays the disc on their PS4 online, it gives them a warning that you have activated the digital version and the disc is invalid online until you remove it from your account.

Do I expect it to happen? No way. Could it happen without any loss in sales or ways to cheat the system? Yes.

any word on hybrid drives?  Like those with 2tb HDD and 8gb SSD?
