Forums - Sony - Sony Details Gaikai Plans

...So you don't have to repay to play the hundreds of available PS3 games? You just get complete "cloud" access to almost a thousand games just by paying $50 a year? I smell bullshit.

Since this works through cloud streaming, I don't see why MS wouldn't do this too.

Never has anyone detailed how much it's going to cost the end user. If i had to guess  they will introduce PS+ Platinum service. and let you pay per game.

PS4 will be able to play PS3 games in 2014, this is a big feature IMO, the x1 does not have, so another big advanatge for PS4, especially for those who skipped the PS3.

I wonder what you call it when I point out the Wii U can already play Wii games without the need for Streaming? Is it still a big important feature when another company has a better way of doing it?

IN a case of next gen comparisons its good to know as far as BC goes, which according to you is a huge thing. Nintendo gets the point because it does BC out of the box

wonder how much it cost you

MS does not have a cloud streaming gamer service so do not expect to see anything like Gaikai from MS anytime soon or at all.

On another note, I am interested to see coverage and what types of games will be on offer.  Will Sony be able to have the complete library on offer from the PS3 or just a few.  Also would be interesting if you just pay a set fee and have instance access to all of the games which would be a killer feature if the experience is solid.

Cell-based servers are cheap, so they are not taking a big risk.

That said, only US plus cloud gaming bandwith problems will not make it really effective before 2015/16

why are cell based servers cheap?

i thought cell chips are pretty expensive etc?

Gaikai may become a real good thing for poorer countries/people.A games flatrate for 5-10 dollar a month could save lots of money becauseyou can play for the price of 1-2 games the whole year.

There were a lot of case where scientist bought 10-100 of ps3 to make servers with them, because it was cheaper to interconnect ps3 than buying servers for the same performance. A lot cheaper. The real cell power is when you make hundreds of them working together.

Cool, I hope they put some games like the Tales series on there.
