If it drops to 99 dollars during the holiday season, it may have a massive effect on holiday sales. Buying a console for a Benjamin is super tempting to anyone, even if it's poorly designed.

It's not poorly designed; you see, with the single-slab design of the 2DS, the money that it prints won't come out folded.

Haha yeah. What are people going to do, buy a Vita? Like that's going to happen.

Not enough to reach your 20m prediction. I guess 15m is now in the realm of possibilities.

I'm not sure why 15m wasn't in the realm of possibilities before the 2DS was announced.  MH4, Pokemon, Zelda, Mario Party (this one is a wild card, really), and already selling pretty well looks like 15m was already going to happen.   Sept-Dec last year alone sold nearly 8m, and 2011 was even higher.  Given the release schedule for this year for Sept-Dec, I can say that at the very LEAST it should do as good as last year WITHOUT the 2DS.  8m + the already nearly 7m sold according to VGC, it seems to stand at a minimum of nearly 14-15m.

it will be hard to tell because of pokemon

Not only that Its october, November, and December is going to be Consideribly higher. They could easily double last years october due to pokemon released AND 2ds, and it has really taken over the DS's spot and could almost double their november and december totals in America and Europe. Its cheap and its fun, and now they can give it to kids under 7 because it doesnt have 3d. It will be a great holiday for the 3DS

I'm just going with worst case scenario with assuming 2DS doesn't exist.  15m is easily within the "realm of possibilities."
I personally think before 2DS, 17m is reasonable.  After, it creeps closer to 20m.

if you saw my post earlier my bad... Now 3ds xl was $160 with mk7 for holiday (best deal) 3ds was $130 with SM3DL (best deal) Imagine 2DS even without a bundle for $99! Yeah, let that sink in..

No matter how well the 3DS sells, I don't think it'll have that much of an impact on next gen home consoles.  The market may share some of the same audience, but there's not really enough for a handheld to overshadow a home console.
