wii u is winning the gen since it's release. he was the first, after all.

and again with the 10 year old different market fallacy? try harder.

Says Wii U is winning this generation since its release

talks about market fallacy

fallacy = false truth. where exactly is my statement false?

False truth??? If something is false, its not even a truth to begin with. Have no idea what you're sayin.

And yeah market has changed, but most certanly not in Nintendo's favour. Unless they hit another casual hot button with WiiU, and i dont think even think you see that happening

It's gonna be similar to the GBA-GCN generation for Nintendo again.

Actually i was reffering more to the system as a whole. The tablet controller clearly doesn't have much mass market appeal, and it already seems to be lacking 3rd party support. At $200 it would probably be more interesting since it would be competing with the PS3(though that won't happen since they would lose money on it), but at $300 it is still a bit to expensive even for people who would buy the system just for Nintendo's franchises.

We dont really know how well the mass market likes the gamepad yet, outside of NSMBU and Nintendo Land there isnt really any titles that appeal to the so called "casuals". Once DKC Tropical Freeze, Mario 3D World, Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros release there will be alot more reason to own the Wii U and we will have a better understanding if people enjoy the gamepad or not. Obviously it doesnt have a Wiimote/motion control type of appeal but not many things do, its hard to tell if hardware is apealling if the software isnt there.

What mass market are you talking of? Because those Nintendo franchises, save for Wii Fit came along for the ride when it came to Wii, they weren't the selling point. Casuals and the blue ocean couldn't give a damn about the next Smash Bros or DK.

Wii didnt sell 100m just because of the Wiimote and Wii Sports/Fit/Play, without games like 2D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, 3D Mario, DKC, Zelda, Kirby it would have been popular for like 2 years and and sold less than half.

If Wii launched with just Wii Sports, Twilight Princess, Red Steel at $50-100 more expensive than the competion followed by a 9 month drought that consisted of just WarioWare and a Lego game, it wouldnt have sold well at all outside of the launch window. But a $50 price cut plus Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Metroid Prime, Mario Party, Paper Mario, Sonic Secret Rings, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Guitar Hero, Pokemon Battle Revolution in the last 4-5 months of the year and now $100-200 cheaper than the competition and Mario Kart, Smash Bros a few months later would give it one hell of a comeback.

Thats basically how Wii U is right now, promising launch followed by 9 month drought consisting of Lego City and Game & Wario and $50-100 more expensive than PS360. In the last 4-5 months of the year it has a $50 price cut Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Luigi U, Wii Party, Wii Fit, Wind Waker, DKC, Sonic, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Mario 3D World plus $100-200 cheaper than PS4/One with Mario Kart and Smash Bros right around the corner.

My whole point is the Wiimote or Wii U Gamepad wont sell a console without a sufficient amount of compelling software.

We'll agree to disagree then, the Gamecube and the WiiU so far are showing the masses/blue ocean do not care about these franchies. They sold on the Wii becuase of what the Wii was, like I said, casuals were happy enough to play them but there is no loyalty there.

If you honestly think Donkey Kong and Zelda are going to get back that blue ocean market well I have news for you, they've moved onto tablets/phones and they aint coming back.

you are persistent on mistakes. the gamecube isn't showing anything since it's 12 years old and from two gen before and a whole different context.

wii u isn't showing anything either. as was said on the very post you just quoted, wii u doesn't have the software yet, so we can't throw assumptions like that.

just out of curiosity, how well do u think Wii would have sold without those Nintendo franchises?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

What makes it hard to compare the 3DS and the Wii U is that one gets the lion's share of 3rd-party support in its market while the other gets the least 3rd-party support in its market. The Wii U will never match the 3DS in terms of content relative to its competition.

And you miscontructed what I clearly meant, the gamecube didn't, and the WiiU isn't so far, didn't think I said to spell out the obvious.

Wiiu has been on the market long enough to show the blue ocean that the Wii captured isn't interested.

wii u hasn't received enough software for anyone to say that.

Disagree, it's been 10 months and it's the worst selling console weekly WW ever I think? All initiatives so far have failed and that includes casual and core nintendo offerings.
