Wii didnt sell 100m just because of the Wiimote and Wii Sports/Fit/Play, without games like 2D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, 3D Mario, DKC, Zelda, Kirby it would have been popular for like 2 years and and sold less than half.

If Wii launched with just Wii Sports, Twilight Princess, Red Steel at $50-100 more expensive than the competion followed by a 9 month drought that consisted of just WarioWare and a Lego game, it wouldnt have sold well at all outside of the launch window. But a $50 price cut plus Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Metroid Prime, Mario Party, Paper Mario, Sonic Secret Rings, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Guitar Hero, Pokemon Battle Revolution in the last 4-5 months of the year and now $100-200 cheaper than the competition and Mario Kart, Smash Bros a few months later would give it one hell of a comeback.

Thats basically how Wii U is right now, promising launch followed by 9 month drought consisting of Lego City and Game & Wario and $50-100 more expensive than PS360. In the last 4-5 months of the year it has a $50 price cut Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Luigi U, Wii Party, Wii Fit, Wind Waker, DKC, Sonic, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Mario 3D World plus $100-200 cheaper than PS4/One with Mario Kart and Smash Bros right around the corner.

My whole point is the Wiimote or Wii U Gamepad wont sell a console without a sufficient amount of compelling software.

We'll agree to disagree then, the Gamecube and the WiiU so far are showing the masses/blue ocean do not care about these franchies. They sold on the Wii becuase of what the Wii was, like I said, casuals were happy enough to play them but there is no loyalty there.

If you honestly think Donkey Kong and Zelda are going to get back that blue ocean market well I have news for you, they've moved onto tablets/phones and they aint coming back.

you are persistent on mistakes. the gamecube isn't showing anything since it's 12 years old and from two gen before and a whole different context.

wii u isn't showing anything either. as was said on the very post you just quoted, wii u doesn't have the software yet, so we can't throw assumptions like that.
