Forums - Website Topics - Do people bother to read the question asked in an initial post before doing poll or replying?

I am curious how common this is:  I happened to ask in the Titanfall (for XBOX ONE) vs Shadowfall, which game will sell more.  The question, which is spelled out pretty clearly, I thought, looks like it is not being seen.  I swear people are reading it as Shadowfall vs Titanfall across ALL platforms it will be on.  That is not the question, but I am seeing it.

So, I am curious if people bother to read what a poll says, and an initial post says, before they reply to it?

Where is the poll?

To answer the question in your OP (maybe, because I didn't actually read it): toothpaste.

I'd said most do (I do) but there's definitely a large percentage that only reads the topic line and then posts (sometimes to hilarious results when the header is misleading)

Well ... some of the responses in your thread I interpreted as since TitanFall will be on more than one platform, it will likely not be a system seller for the XBO, thus mitigating its sales effect and possibly giving Killzone the advantage. My interpretation, they simply mean KZ will do better or relatively better and they just gave you a justification for the position ( at least those I read ). It didn't strike me as people not paying attention to the OP.

Look, I don't care how you break it down, the Wii U just isn't going to dominate the holidays the way some people believe.

I noticed another thread recently, can't remember what it was, where people were answering something that was never asked. I guess a lot of people start reading and then leap to assumptions about where the topic is headed.

Doesn't matter. The answer is always 42.

Every time I try to think of something witty, Badgenome always said it already.

I did not read the OP, I came in here looking for a poll.

Huh, what? , haha , PS4 FTW , screw MS, now where can i vote?

Your problem is you are asking the actual question in the title.

Your title should hint to the content of your OP such that they are forced to read it after they are tantalized by your title.

Title = statement
OP = outline and question or troll job promote discussion/sectarian violence

The purpose of the post was to try to get what people thought was going to sell more.  It is a survey thread, with chance for people to explain.  And the question in the title was what was being asked.
