If Nintendo has lost their way, does that mean that you've lost your way? Does that mean that you've lost your pie? Does that mean we don't get pie? Why can't I have pie? I've been doing a really good job with my diet and I want some pie. I want some goddam pie! |

HELP ME HERE!
did I just find one of those ignorant americans people have been talking about in this thread?

I'm still don't get all these threads about 2DS

Probably it's the design. People are seeing it as... a little strange thing. I think they should keep the same 3DS design and just remove the 3D to create a 2DS.

This is probably the worst post I have ever read and I actually feel like I've de-volved somewhat just reading it. Please read my post at the top of this thread. Also, considering Nintendo titles are the best selling of all time (usually all from one console) and Wii had by far the broadest userbase of any console, excluding the DS, in terms of age... your kiddie summation is full of crap. |
sure they wii was a "financial" success and its userbase was broad but it was also full of people who cared about anything but games. for example, there were a lot people who bought this thing for the idiotic reason to get into shape or lose weight while having some fun at the same time. but those people are gone now (see wii U sales) because they finally realized (duh) that wii fit and wii sports were not the "magical pound vanishing" tools they might have expected. i'd say, with every console nintendo made, starting with the N64, they lost more and more people who really cared about gaming and all that's left now are die hard nintendo fans kids mainly. or in short: core gaming is everywhere except nintendo. maybe japan is different but i bet in the rest of the world it's excatly like that.
2DS is being launched to make sure Pokemon reaches as wide an audience as possible, by lowering the entry barrier to 3DS software. The only way Nintendo can do that is by cutting the price of the hardware, and the hardware price can't come down without removing the most expensive component.
People often believe that Nintendo use their software to serve their hardware, when the opposite is true, particularly in this instance. The 2DS has been created to serve the goal of making Pokemon as successful as possible. With just the XL and the 3DS on the market, Pokemon wouldn't reach the broadest possible audience, because hardware pricing leaves the entry barrier too high. Combine that with ongoing concerns about 3D for children, and the less robust clamshell design, and Nintendo clearly had issues to adjust before Pokemon X&Y can strike a chord with a truly mass-market audience.
2DS answers those issues. It's launching on the same day as Pokemon not because it needs Pokemon to succeed, but because Pokemon needed a lower priced, kid-friendly 3DS to reach the biggest possible audience this Christmas.
@OP:
Ninty is just ahead of our times: 2D is the new 3D! There's a thread I made about it. Very simple. No need for explanations, it's so and that's it! Like the Bible.

And we all eventually came to the conclusion that Nintendo was actually serious about this so-called "2DS." But, what I'm wondering is; is the "2DS" Nintendo's secret call for help? Are they trying to tell us something with this "new" announcement? Is Nintendo running out of ideas? Are they coming to the fate of Pixar? Was the 3D of the 3DS actually a completely useless feature that was only implemented to make the 3DS seem like something new? Does Nintendo as a whole get collectively high before they come up with any idea? Do they need our help to turn them back to the rolling hills, triple rainbows, and unicorns that was the land of Wii and DS? So many questions, yet so little time... to write them down. Overall, Nintendo, we ask you why? - Everyone on the internet NintendoPie and a few other people. |
I really don't like the idea. 3d is like one of the main reasons i got a 3ds. Taking pictures in 3d rules, especially pictures of my gfs boobs

What do you think the 2DS is aimed at, though? |
