Forums - Gaming - Nintendo comments on PS4/X1 launch lineups - MEH

Meh!

Around the Network

I just lol

2013 line-ups? I'd have to agree with the Regginator, 2014 line-upas? That's vague as of now. But both seem to be having some great games.

Even as someone who pre-ordered a PS4 the launch line up is just okay. Then again, to me anyone who buys a system solely on launch line up is bit short sighted. It is a 5-8 year investment and the PS1, PS2, and PS3 have earned my trust of systems well supported to the end of their lives.

Well, what else is he gonna say, can't fault him for being disingenuous, it's his job!

Nintendo don't talk about the tech because they know they don't/can't compete in that area.

Their line up this holiday is solid but X1's isn't far behind and is much more diverse.

I'd agree with his assessment of the competition, but Reggie is really throwing stones in a glass house here.

Nah, Reggie's house is bulletproof:

OT: Regarding their launch exclusives I agree with him - particularly with the PS4. IMHO, of course.

Badass Reggie is back? Welp. We better prepare for nuclear war then.

This kind of arrogance is the reason why the WiiU is struggling. Looking at your competitors and saying "meh" just makes you look pathetic. Especially when your own console launch wasn't any better.

To be perfectly fair, on paper the Wii U launch lineup looked great, especially with all that 3rd party support, a lot of franchises that had as yet not been put on Nintendo systems. And the Wii U itself sold just over 3 million units from launch to the end of Dec. 2012. That's less than two months to hit 3 million+. I'd call that a pretty strong launch. Their problem was, that their lineup didn't continue with solid hit after solid hit, as it should have, as the Wii originally did in 2007. That drought really hurt their sales and momentum, obviously. But they are also now obviously taking measures to fix that (including droping the Wii U price, which they said they "Wouldn't do", and it's obviously going to cost them money).

Also, to be fair, I'm pretty sure Reggie was half-joking, if not completely joking. But hey, any press is "good press" right? People are saying "90s Nintendo is back".....so yup. Here we go.

Let the war of next gen begin
Battle Ninten you know that's a sin
Flame bait haters and fanboy traitors
Shit talkin fools and mad instigators
You know you fucked up when in the bario
The only voice that you here is
"It's a me, Mario!"

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

Most launch lineups are meh, though...

Some people is going soooo mad for that comment...
