This kind of arrogance is the reason why the WiiU is struggling. Looking at your competitors and saying "meh" just makes you look pathetic. Especially when your own console launch wasn't any better.

To be perfectly fair, on paper the Wii U launch lineup looked great, especially with all that 3rd party support, a lot of franchises that had as yet not been put on Nintendo systems. And the Wii U itself sold just over 3 million units from launch to the end of Dec. 2012. That's less than two months to hit 3 million+. I'd call that a pretty strong launch. Their problem was, that their lineup didn't continue with solid hit after solid hit, as it should have, as the Wii originally did in 2007. That drought really hurt their sales and momentum, obviously. But they are also now obviously taking measures to fix that (including droping the Wii U price, which they said they "Wouldn't do", and it's obviously going to cost them money).

Also, to be fair, I'm pretty sure Reggie was half-joking, if not completely joking. But hey, any press is "good press" right? People are saying "90s Nintendo is back".....so yup. Here we go.
