Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Reveals the Newest Addition to the 3DS Family: Nintendo 2DS

after the initial shock...
This doesn´t look nearly as bad as some people make it out.
...and it looks uncomfortable ? please...someone didn´t try the WiiU Gamepad
and a second analog stick will never come, it would be pointless (only like 10 games use it) would make the current 3DS owners angry and won´t be supported very well (because the vast majority of systems still doesn´t have one)

Well that was unexpected.

I more expected a gamepad-less WiiU for $199 (might happen if sales are still underwhelming over Christmas) but not a 3D-less 3DS.

Still... $129? It's a very attractive price point but... damn... I don't want to be seen with that thing.

I actually think the white/red one looks really good...

They're not doing a gamepadless Wii U. -_- When they sell a touch screenless 3DS, then we'll talk.

We really needed a new better 3DS model with:

- Better autonomy
- Better 3D effect
- Better constrasted screen
- Lighter 3DS XL model

And you give us this instead? with 2 important features removed?

- No more stereoscopic 3D
- No more hinges

I am really disappointed.

It's not for you dude. Relax.

Nintendo has other customers too.

Well, it was either this for $129 or a clamshell design for $149.

...To be honest I doubt they made the right choice.

Wonderful news for Nintendo. This 2DS for 129$ along with Pokemon, will sell enormously in late 2013 and early 2014. I had my doubts if the 3DS would overcome the GBA in sales in the U.S. market, but this strategy will give a huge increase to achieve this feat. I will certainly buy the two bundles (red and blue).
The cut of the Wii u is excellent to attract the core gamer-market. It seems that the Basic model was to space (another great news). From now on, only the deluxe model is available (sure, I'll buy the deluxe model with Zelda limited edition). The perfect price would be 250$ for the WiiU Deluxe Model + New Super Mario U, with this price Nintendo could give huge headaches for Sony and bury Xbone sales in the territories outside the U.S. market.

You're not alone in that regard. Surprised by how good it looks. XD

Also, Nintendo doesn't price consoles in Europe but GAME has the handheld priced for £109.99.

omg what? The naming nintendo, what are you doing with the naming,

I think the fact that the 3DS was so named that is already causing confusion, as it seems to just be a 3D DS, so parents don't see the need to buy it for their kids.

Then to release a new designed 3DS and name it the 2DS just adds so much more unneeded confusion are games going to be packaged as 2DS/3DS games?

MY EYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

But it looks like someone at Nintendo took a sensible pill. Release a system which can play the new Pokemon for £150, a Wii U price drop the same time as Wind Waker releases, pushing Mario out for Black Friday...what's just happened?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

If I didn't buy a 3DS already i'd of much rather bought a 2DS.
