Square Enix confirmed Bravely Default: For the Sequel, a not-quite sequel to last year’s Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, in the latest issue of Weekly Jump.

Bravely Default: For the Sequel

The game appears to be an evolution of the first game with added elements to garner interest in a sequel. It will have new events, reformed controls, an auto-battle mode, and a quad-speed battle option. There are now three save spots and players can select a difficulty level. It can also use data from the original game.

Bravely Default: For the Sequel will launch on December 5 in Japan for 4,990 yen at retail and 2,900 yen via digital download.

So we need to buy this for the sequel? Well at least their honest about it. Hopefully this will be the version that gets localised next year.

See? This is how Digital is supposed to work!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

We haven't even gotten the normal version yet and japan already moves on to the cash-in-edition. SMH

I hope we are getting this new version from the beginning. Maybe that's why its taking them so long.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Maybe they are porting it for Smartphones..

Good guy SE being honest about the sequel.

Well, I suppose BD:FF was considered a success for them.

Sadly, NiKKoM's is the most likely outcome.

Was hoping they would announce a Vita port...

I think it's a smart move. The 3DS has grown a lot since BDFF came out and I think they can get a lot of sales from a re-release.

This is Square's version of what a Kickstarter is. Buy it for the sequel and then buy the sequel. Just for you for 10k yen!
Square sure loves to make those weird names for their games, especially on Nintendo handhelds
