Wii U will be roughly around 6 million by the end of the year, possibly more. PS4 will be on the market for 6 weeks and will need to sell 6 million in that time frame to pass Wii U lifetime sales this year.
I never said PS4/One couldnt outsell Wii launch but they would have to double that and im not seeing it.

Well, it will definatly sell over 1 million launch week. And if Sony has supply sorted out it should sell over 1 million Christmas week and should sell close to 1 million BF week (Again if sony has it sorted out). I think people are going to be surprised.

If they launch too early there may be some smaller weeks, but closer to black Friday and Christmas and they will be up near a million a week again. Wii U could be passed up, unless it just happens to do really well too. I am not too faithful that it's line up of games can do it. Another Mario game? Maybe, it has worked in the passed, Maybe I am not the only one who is tired of seeing Mario monthly. We will see. |
A million a week? Is that combined sales? Even then that's pretty optimistic. I really can't see them producing enough to keep up with that kind of demand week in and week out.

One thing to take Into account also Is It only has 4 weeks In Europe. Best case scenario in my opinion, it ships 4 million by years end. I personally think 3 million is more likely.
Just for reference, what is the most a console has ever sold in 6 weeks?

I think it was DS in 2008 managed over 9 million in 6 weeks.
Home console I think it was Wii in the same year with about 7 million.

Doubful, simply because I doubt they can produce that many systems for launch.
The PS4 will come closest, right? So here's how I see it going:
W1: 700k
W2: 480k
W3: 780k (EU launch)
W4: 500k
W5: 580k
W6: 300k (last week in the year)
Total: 3.34mil
So I'd say it should be around 3-3.5mil come the end of the year, and the XBone about 1mil less. Whereas the Wii U should be over 6mil come the end of the year.
Just my personal thoughts, but I don't see it doing better than the Wii. That thing was literally an explosion of excitement, most importantly, outside of gaming circles. And I do believe both new systems will hurt each other sales-wise.
And Wii U sold how much units ?
