Nintendo didn't expect that much in sales by the Wii or else they would have produce more before launch and they didn't expect it because the Nintendo came off of N64 then GC. The Wii was severly supply constrained and didn't have 1 million in preorders either. Both consoles will sell more than the Wii for the first holiday season.

I highly doubt Sony is going to ship over 6 million PS4 in a matter of 6 weeks.

Wii U will be roughly around 6 million by the end of the year, possibly more. PS4 will be on the market for 6 weeks and will need to sell 6 million in that time frame to pass Wii U lifetime sales this year.
I never said PS4/One couldnt outsell Wii launch but they would have to double that and im not seeing it.
