Forums - Sales - From what I have seen people say, the Xbone and PS4 will outsell the Wii U by the end of this year?

I highly doubt that very much. Besides I think the Wii U will have a good 2014.

Didn't the Wii blow past the 360 within months of being released?

Yes and 360 had about 5mil when it launched. Wii U might not even have that

I thought the question was one of a console blowing buy another one that had a lead.  I had thought the Wii did it, so I posted that.

Not gonna happen. Especially not X1.

I don't even think they can outsell the Wii U by 2014. That's if they do at all, which they won't. Like I've said. Wii U 1st. XBO 2nd. PS4 3rd. PS4 will be second for maybe two years, but the XBO will build momentum faster and overtake it. The Wii U will take off this holiday due to a relaunch campaign and bundles of Wind Waker HD in September, Super Mario 3D world in December, and if they're smart, Wii Fit U as well. Nintendo is in a better place this holiday then you guys think. For this holiday, and especially for next year when compared to the XBO and PS4. Watch the momentum speed out of control. Wii U? More like Wii 2. (Not really, but it's gonna sell the best still)

If you think Wii U will be first then i hope you enjoy the collapse of the industry.

According to VGC the Wii passed X360 in mid-August 2007, quite a while after the end of 2006.

The X360 at this time of year in 2006 was just over 4 million (about 20% higher than WiiU is now). At the end of 2006 it had managed 8 million, so assuming a similar trend the Wii U should pass 6.5 million by the end of the year.

6.5 million is way too high a figure for either console to get at launch, companies don't like creating surplus stock (particularly of bulky items) so for them to make enough to sell over 6 million in 2 months they would be assuming iPad/iPhone-like demand.

I think it would be on the optimistic side to predict the combined sales of PS4/XB1 will surpass WiiU (though that is at least plausible)

Your forgetting one thing though. Nintendo never expected those Wii sales. If they did then they could have produced more and sold more but it turned out to be a massive hit they never saw comming and were supply constrained and since they didnt expect it you cant just flip a switch and ramp up production. Sony and Ms are both expecting their system to catch on and will definatly have more supply than the Wii. 1Mil preorders a few weeks ago. Combined they will definatly overtake the wii u. That isnt optimistic its conservative. Wii U shipped 3Mil its first quarter and ms and sony will definatly at least match that

Faith is the least that you can lose.

I think it's possible, though not a guarantee, if for no reason other than that Sony and Microsoft might not be able to manufacture 7-8 million units of their respective consoles by the end of 2013.

I have just seen this in various threads, and had a few people at Gamestop tell me this. Kind of amazing that a years headstart will be wiped a way within just a few months of launch by these two juggernauts.

I really doubt the Wii U will be able to push out much this holiday. Enough to keep Nintendo and retailers interested another year, but not enough to fend off the PS4/Xbone rush.

Has this ever happened before?

Well if someone at Gamestop said, it must be true..lol...

I take it this is your first gen as a gamer? No console in history sold 1 million every month let alone 2.

Sorry but your opinion is missing logic, reason, and common sense.

Dont feel too bad though. Looking at some of these responses you arent the only one living in a dream world...

Yes a 399.99 console and a 499.99 console are both going to sell more at launch than even the Wii did.....
