No, the 3DS is.

your statement would sound a lot less ridiculous if the exact oposite hadn't happened with the 3ds.

"No pricecut or game or both has increased sales that much" : pricecut + mario 3d land and MK7 = huge 3ds sales.

"The industry pretty much rejected the Wii U and thats all but written in stone" : saying the industry rejected (past form, as in no possible recovery) a system that's not even a year old, especially when the only reason of low sales is lack of software.

I think you need to check 3DS lows and highs again. Not only did it never reach these lows it isnt even selling enough to be able to outpace and reach a market leader. In another 2 and a half years (5 year life span) i expect it to be about 50mil. Considering the Wii U will most likely have 5 years and is lower then the 3ds by a fairl hefty margin i dont expect Wii U to reach 50Mil let alone 3Ds levels like you suggest. 6Months later and nintendo still isnt where they expected theyd be. I stand by my statement. No more than 50mil for Wii U LT and no less than 50Mil for ps4 LTt this point in time

your lack of sense got me confused. wich console do you expect to be 50M in two and a half years from now? if it's the 3ds then you're gonna have an unhappy surprise since 3ds will reach 50M in less than a year from now.

also, the point is not about the wii u doing 3ds numbers eventually, the point is that both 3ds and wii u had a rough start for the same reason: LACK OF SOFTWARE and to a lesser extent, price.

you said that some games and a price cut never had a huge impact on a console, but that's exactly what turned 3ds into the absolute gen winner. get your facts straight before typing here.

"What makes you think Sony aren't going to "do a thing"".

really?really?really?really?really?really?really?really?

you can't possibly have understood that, you must be trolling. I'll draw for you regardless:

his stance: sony NEVER HAS TO DO A THING (=/= won't do a thing) to win, victory is always theirs. But nintendo only has a chance if they get lucky and score a big hit.

do you understand now how nonsensical that way of thinking is?

Calm down. Where did he say Sony "never has to do a thing"? You're just putting words in his mouth at this point.

he says nintendo needs a hit to suceed and acts as if sony doesn't have to do a thing. I'm not putting words on anyone's mouth.

I don't think saying the PS4 will come out on top is shortsighted really.

Out of the gate, it is going to take the lead. Maybe Wii U battles it off until spring, but that's at the latest. So say around summer 2014. PS4 is in the lead, with either Xbox or Wii U trailing.

Unless Kinect 2 someone makes waves, Xbox will probably not catch up to PS4. A system that will worse versions of most of the same games while being more expensive will not attract that many gamers. Unless Microsoft changes their strategy to getting/making as many exclusives as they can, I really don't see them surpassing Sony for a long while. Sony is going to have more exclusives. It's almost guaranteed. Those exclusives will stretch late into it's lifecycle. If PS4 gets an early lead, Xbox won't be able to outstretch PS4 to beat it.

That leaves Wii U. Many people are pegging it as a failure already, but I think it has a chance for second place. A price cut will happen eventually, and when it does, Wii U will look very attractive to casuals and families. Nintendo's lineup this holiday may be lacking, but come next holiday, Wii U will be a cheaper system with a huge library full of very high profile exclusives as well as plenty of bundles. I honestly see the Wii U beating out the X1. Microsoft's console will always be more expensive, always require money to do anything online, and will never have near as many exclusives.

I predict PS4 to win with Wii U in second and X1 trailing both of them.

bolded: you think ps4 will sell 5M+ in one day?

bolded2: facepalm.

Actually. Far from it. Its way to early to call. Why?

Sony don't really have what i consider a future proof console. It looks to have good graphics and be affordable early on.

but even though Sony embraced indies, they still lost some of the biggest indie games to Microsoft as exclusive. Also the games front for the first year is larger in aaa exclusives for Microsoft than Sony and much more diverse. Best selling alltime online game in mine craft will now never appear on ps4 due to moneyhat and the devs new indie game is also completely exclusive to xbox one.

also xbox one has much better online structure and are allocating way more servers to devs than Sony can only dream about.

we should look at this in 2017. Cause i think there's way more to this than games this time.

so far almost every Microsoft exclusive is getting praise from hands on. Ryse, zoo tycoon, forza 5, dead rising 3, killer instinct and project spark all are getting high praise.

I have bad news for you...

Minecraft is launching on PS4 soon. Even at launch I think? Someone may want to clarify the launch date.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

2014 looks pretty solid for the PS4 to be honest.

Destiny (best console version on PS4?), inFamous: Second Son, Octodad, MGSV, Final Fantasy XV, more true next-gen versions of Madden NFL, FIFA, NHL, NBA 2K, and probably a lot more we don't know about yet (Uncharted 4 seems likely for Nov 2014).

I think Sony is really going to have to push the $100 price difference at least for the launch window. As you point out, there are really only two major exclusives, Killzone and Infamous (quality games, but not system sellers) in the launch window. Driveclub is no Gran Turismo so that is not helping much.

From an objective standpoint, I think we can agree MS threw a lot more money at grabbing exclusives for their launch window which has resulted in a better lineup (at least for launch). What MS has going against it is price, and bad press post E3.

They have already taken steps to combat the price with free game inclusions for some regions, but bad press is a much harder thing to fix.

Will be interesting to see sales 1-2 years in.... Will exclusives and kinect 2.0 sell the system? Will Wii U make a comeback? Will Sony be number one in sales after a surprise defeat last gen?

Will be a fascinating generation just from a sales point of view.

Me and my friends are litterally buying the PS4 at launch because of Killzone and InFamous.  Maybe they are not system sellers to you, but just because I think Halo is an exceptional example of a typical boring FPS with no soul, does not mean millions will not buy a system for that game...

Odds are certainly in Sony's favour.

We saw how well they could do when they fucked EVERYTHING up and the competition did EVERYTHING right... So its gonna be fun to see it the opposite way around.

Exactly, that's why this gen will be interesting for Sony.

How in the world did you ever come up with that?

Sony would have to suddenly make a mistake of unbelievable magnitudes to lose this gen.

They will win NA, Europe, and Japan.

As much as MS have turned things around for the X1 its not enough. Price alone is ahuge factor in this. MS will not by any means flop though. X1 should still have healthy sales LT around 70 million.

Unless there is some insane wildcardfor X1 that actually takes off

0% chance of victory for Nintendo.
