I don't believe I have ever seen this done anywhere, ever but someone really talented should create a real-time threaded discussion system.

Basically.  Similar to how things work on Reddit, rather than have disucssion show one after the other, have them in collapsable discussion threads.

So if UserA makes a thread, and UserB replies to it, that creates one discussion thread.  If UserC replies both to UserA and UserB, UserC creates a new thread while also adding to the existing thread.  The real-time aspect of this is that rather than have a view that is a near full screen editing window, you'd have an editing view with the current disucssion threads view, so as someone responds to you or any thread you can see it in real-time.  Rather than comment, post, check what page you're on.  Try to remember what page you were on.  Read everything in between.

That wouldn't work.. On this site there are always 3 ending to a thread:
1. The thread becomes a shitfest of trolls and ends up locked
2. The thread becomes derailed and ends up locked
3. The thread becomes a place where we secretly trade p0rn and ends up locked

In your case every shitty troll thread would create even more shitty troll threads making it a day job for our lovely moderating team to close them all down.. Even smeags isn't that awesone to handle that

So that's how reddit works?

Ah, yes. And 95% of Reddit is either shit, crazy, boring, borderline illegal or all of the above.
