Forums - Sony - The PS4 Will Fail at converting Xbox fans..

It doesn't have to convert which is good for MS. It may add more fanbase. Again this is an opinion not fact.

You forgot the community. I hate Microsoft with a passion, have never touched an xbox controller and have never played any exclusive game and yet right now I would rather buy an Xbox One(I won't, PC master race is already ahead of next gen) before associating myself with *that* crowd. I'm sure that I am not the only one feeling this way. Poster above me is a good example.

I'm sure "*that* crowd" breathes air, might eat bread and drink water - maybe even is genetically are 98+% identical to you, so what are you going to do about that? Or is simply buying the same console a far bigger factor to you than any of that?

What's your point? I'm sure criminals and psychopaths are also genetically identical to me and they also breath air yadda yadda and so forth and yet many people choose not to get associated with them. That's the beauty of it all, you can avoid people that annoy you even if they are from the same species.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Not all of them but a large portion of them.

It will convert some, I don't think anyone is expecting a huge percentage like we saw the xbox grab from the playstation last gen. Of course those loyal to Gears or Halo will be very relunctant. The thing is the xbox userbase is 7m strong, no exclusive has more then a 15% attachment rate. Which means there are a lot of gamers for the taking in that respect.

I think everyone believes that XBL is a better service in terms of reliability and server support, playstation fans included. But for a lot of people the difference between a good online service and a slightly better one isn't a deciding factor. Also the introduction of PS+ now gives sony an edge in the eyes of some.

Controller wise, word of mouth and hands on experience will quickly remove preconceptions. Remember the Original Xbox was a laughing stock because of its controller, and people were very conditioned to the dual shock. That didn't stop MS from adopting playstaion owners when the 360 came out.

The real prevention will be community and familiarity.

1)Micosoft exclusives, With great games like halo and gears of war that are not on any sony platforms

No one cares. By "no one" I mean like only 10% of Xbox owners. CoD and Assassin's Creed, Fifa, Madden - that what's really matters.

2) Xbox live, ever since Sony got hack many still believe that there online infrastructure is bad and that Xbox live is more reliable.

No one cares part 2. We gamers have good, but short memory. It doesn't matter. Who will remember "2013 Xbone shit storm" in 2014 - no one (still 10% of xbox 360 owners max - 7 mln gamers). If you are concerned about your safety/privacy think about "Kinect always on" issue.

3) The Controller, many believe the Xbox 360 is the best controller since the SNES. And the Xbox one only improves on that.

Xbox 360 D-PAD - the worst in the history of controllers. No one cares 3 (still 7 mln people care a lot). I'm a sony fan boy but still can appreciate Xbox 360 and wii controlers (N64 had the best of the best of the best controllers)

So do you still believe that the PS4 will take the whole Xbox Fanbase?

Never had in mind. There is like 0.0000000001% chance. 30 mln users to take over in a life cycle as my top prediction. (40 mln XBO vs. 100 mln PS4 in 2020 - but I don't count on it).

Conclusion:

Like in all big 3 communities there are hardcores. Wii U has (and will have) an audience. If Xbox One will be an epic fail it still can count on min of 40 mln users in life cycle as a min.

Sony will take over some of Xbox owners because PS4 is cheaper. Owners - not fans.

My experience is that most Xbox 360 fans are just PS2 owners that weren't biased. If the PS4 offers better games and better value, we'll swing back. It's not that serious.

And you avoid associating with psychopaths and criminals by not picking up the same console, I see.

and

confirmed pre order ratios say otherwise right now

Why does Microsoft not just pound Sony's game division into dust? They have the money to do that.
I would do that if I had the means to.

Wii U Nintendo Network ID, Borode

XBOX Live ID, Borode

If a Xbox one owner decide also to get a PS4, Sony wins? I thought I as gamer then won oh well =p.
